Folks, I must respectfully bow out of the festivities at Salt Lick. My folks are driving in from out of town Saturday so I won't be able to make it. I live about an hour from the restaurant so just popping by to introduce myself isn't an option either. I hope everyone has a good time & a safe trip home for out-of-towners. I'll ask William on Monday about the quality of the Aggie jokes.

Just came across this thread. Count me in too, I'm a local Austinite FT but it's been too long since I've been out to the Salt Lick http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif</font>
Will we get to meet the future Mrs. Hauteboy?

Hauteboy may be keeping the FT aspect of his personality under wraps until she says "I do." Wouldn't want to scare her off. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

True, very true.

She will be attending. If I haven't managed to scare her off yet there's not much chance others will. She's already well acquainted with my mileage obsession. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

Wow, the Hard Rock is opening already? Darnit means I'll have to get another shirt. Noo....

Wouldn't you know it? Snow is being forecast for Saturday morning in DFW. What's the forecast for AUS?

Rain and snow, 35 to 55F. How can it snow with a 35F temperature?

Well, that's what they said last time it ended up snowing in DFW. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

I think we'll actually be okay in AUS.

This is beautiful SOUTH CENTRAL Texas! One of the reasons we choose to live here is to escape the extremes in weather DFW is known for. Now crossing my fingers and hoping I don't have to eat these words. . .

When I was at UT in 1984, I came to the lab wearing shorts. (it was 75 degrees). The prof & his wife said to me it's snowing outside. The temp dropped from 70 down to 30 in just a few hours. Needless to say, most cars were sliding all over the place. I grew up in Michigan so I made it home just fine. I lived just 2 miles from campus at the time. Anyway, call it the BBQ run & see ya'll on Saturday.

Thanks, Studley, I do love BBQ sauce and lots of it. Weather forecast is for mid fifties and mostly cloudy. Darn, the great weather we bragged about will not be with us. And, I haven't seen any wildflowers yet.

Would have liked for Chemist and any others coming from out of the area to have been able to experience the glory of our springtimes.

On the west feeder road at 1H35 and William Cannon, Mrs. Starwood Lurker happened to glance over to the left by the guardrail and lo and behold...bluebonnets in January! They are probably toast after 17 degrees the other night, but they brought a broad smile to our faces at the time. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/biggrin.gif
