So when's chicken season around here? http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif We know beef season is a year-round thing in Texas. Even Oprah knows it. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif ------------------ The perfect ladies' man is a perfect gentleman. |

I had almost forgotten about that. studley, I think the chicken in season thing was a joke that the owner played on unsuspecting northerners. If I remember from my last visit there, he had changed the menus and left it off the new ones. Can't remember if the pig lips are still on it, but we'll find out soon. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif Best regards, William R. I'm not going to be able to make this one, guys - I've got a friend who's going into the Navy and that day is her going-away party. Anyone who's heading to Texas next weekend: the weather outlook is excellent so far! It's in the 70s here.

February 17, 2002 In Austin By KATHRYN JONES Austin is the capital of Texas, but musicians, filmmakers and artists are as much a part of its identity as politicians, bureaucrats and high-tech moguls like Michael Dell, who started his namesake computer company out of his University of Texas dorm room. In the spring Austin's eclectic melting pot boils during the South by Southwest entertainment industry summit. Record-company executives, producers, dot-commers (those who survived the recent troubles, anyway) and other movers and shakers descend on the city looking to discover the next hot musical act or independent filmmaker. |
Hello Everyone!
Our get-tegether next Saturday is shaping up well. I expect that we will have some certificates (e.g., "Most Unreceived GoldPoints", "Most Orphan FF Miles" and "Flown on Most Defunct Airlines), some "Proud to Fly American" pins and a few door prizes to hand out. Please remember that the Salt Lick (18300 FM 1826, Driftwood TX, tel. 512-894-3117) doesn't take credit cards, doesn't sell alcoholic beverages and doesn't do separate checks. It's BYO Change and BYO Bottle. Estimated cost is $13.50 plus dessert. The shindig officially starts at 12 noon on Saturday, March 2, Texas Independence Day. The reservation is for "FlyerTalkers." To get there, take Loop 1 (better known locally as "MoPac") from Austin southwest until it dead ends into FM 1826. (The last-chance-to-buy-beer convenience store is named Bubba's and is a few hundred yards to the right at this intersection.) Turn left onto FM 1826 and go 7-1/2 miles. The Salt Lick will be on your right, with parking in the rear. If you go a few yards too far you will cross Onion Creek and the Salt Lick Pavillion will be on your right...do a U-turn to get back to the original Salt Lick. If you go a couple of miles too far you will dead-end into FM 150. http://www.saltlickbbq.com/ ------------------ Middle_Seat Texas Independence Day FT Get-Together March 2, 2002 -- See FT Community |
Just came across this thread. Count me in too, I'm a local Austinite FT but it's been too long since I've been out to the Salt Lick http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

My folks are coming down to visit this weekend, so that means I either won't be there or will be there with family in tow - I probably won't know until Friday. If I had to lay odds, I would bet against me being there. If it doesn't work out for me I hope everyone has a good time. It sounds like we're in for a beautiful weekend!
Any local FTers interested in a Round Rock Express game some time this summer? Maybe we can get a RR/San Antonio rivalry going. jk ------------------ "Hang up my haishirt, put my scourge in place, and pray, Laurent, for Heaven's perpetual grace." Moliere, "Tartuffe" |
hauteboy, glad you can come!
Jae, I was just kidding when I mentioned grilling Revielle. I can assure you that all Aggies, their families and their dogs will be safe and welcome http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif ------------------ Middle_Seat Texas Independence Day FT Get-Together March 2, 2002 -- See FT Community |
