And I thought it was my setup here, so I was dinking with things all day long trying to figure it out, after I think I nearly srewed up all my settings on all my network devices, and rebuilt my DNS tables, it's good to know it wasn't me http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

Am I wrong, or was this the longest time that FT has been down?

I don't see how changing your DNS would effect if you could access FT. Certainly you would have determined that FT was the only site you could not have opened.

I think the board going up and down is directly related to FF express lines shutting down and openeing up!

Well, I've had previous DNS caching issues on my network, and FT was not the only site I couldn't access today, including a few other larger ones, such as Megaproxy. So, my next logical step was to determine where something was caching something bad along the way, and clearning caches on multiple computers...A lot of times, that does work, for instance, the Hilton site can be kinda quirky at times, when accessing the HHonors portion, they use a finicky form of failover there. At any rate, I never won today, as it was something that I couldn't fix.

Pinging Flyertalk's address returned a response during the outage. It seems that ever since the server was moved to Viawest that outages are more common. It would be nice if during outages there was a redirection to a webpage that indicated the outage reason. The 22nd outage was caused by UPS failure and a datacenter connectivity loss.

The good news is that I immediately accessed Omni this morning.

I felt the same way. After reading these boards it has now become a "part of life" that is oh so nice.

I even went to the viawest site to see if they had a page about any outages like some providers do...no dice...
