9 years in Japan winding down

Please excuse the shameless self-promo, but the Kids are heading Stateside at long last. The letter of resignation has been tendered and there is in fact light at the end of the tunnel.

The plan is to head back to ROC and start of an LLC in the interest of bringing Japan and the US (or perhaps just ROC) a little closer together. I will continue handling the import/export business for my current employer, but will be able to do so on my own time and terms, and with a refreshing absence of the rampant cigarette smoke. (The kind that would close down ORD on an otherwise clear day.)

If any of you all are interested in the nit and gritty or are hoping to get more involved with Japan, feel free to drop me a line at [email protected] or my other addresses.

With only a couple trans-Pac flights scheduled, I also look forward to your tips on mileage runs - we've never done that!

The future visitors to Tokyo will miss one friendy host. Good luck with your new venture and the mileage runs. Keep in touch.

KP -

It will be good to have you back in the U.S. (although it was great fun visiting with you in Tokyo!) and I, for one, would be delighted to offer you advice on mileage runs. In fact, I'd love to do one with you and "Mrs. Kid" at some point. Maybe Paris? We'll talk.

For now, I wish you both the very best for your future in ROC and every success for your business. And I look forward to being able to properly host you in Chicago (or wherever I wind up) one day ... maybe over a long weekend?

My best regards to you and the wife. I remember quite well meeting you in Tokyo and still have the pachinko ball you gave me as a gift and of course the dinner. Love to catch up with you and thanks for staying in touch with FlyerTalk.

Let me know when you return... we will have to meet for drinks or dinner...

Where will you be living here? I live in West Henrietta.

That's great news kidpachinko! When are yall coming back. It's certainly been a while since our last meeting in NRT. ROC is definitely easier to travel to from here. Best wishes and drop me a line when you can. Regards to Mrs. kid.

Thanks for the replies and encouragement, all! It has been awhile since I'd heard from most of you!

Doc - Maybe we'll finally have a chance to meet you at a get-together!

KZ- Kochira koso! Ie ha mitsuketa kashira? Kongo mo yoroshiku - tokuni Mrs. wo!

Bill - Righto! Hopefully we will finally have some free time, and a first visit to Europe would be fun, indeed. I still owe you another ball, and will send a pic of the champagne bottle (and box)!

Mr. P: The pleasure was all ours. You were the first FT'er we met, but fortunately not the last. btw, you wouldn't let us pay for dinner at Fuji Mama's. -Something about "wanting miles" on your card.

Pam: Chat -ooh! Hopefully I can even be found in person somewhere!! <cough>

William: I will be in Brighton temporarily, and nearby after that. Just a hop, skip'n a jump. (No minimum 500 miles, sorry)

Mark: You still in Vermont? Might have to arrange a "fact finding" trip up there....

10 more weeks! (We'll be back in Japan in June for a wedding and meetings.)
