FT couples/marriages?
I hope I'm not upsetting anyone with this thread question, but after meeting a few people and seeing how weell people get on here (in general) and after a really nicely unexpected note from Randy, I got to thinking about more social aspects of FT. Considering the Singles mixer planned for MSY in Jan, I was wondering if there are any FT couples/relationships and/or perhaps marriages (not including, of course, those already together before coming to FT). Are there any of you out there? Eyes met across a crowded lounge, or saw a FT tag, stuck up a conversation and decided to pool points? (so to speak!)?
Guess I'm curious http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif ------------------ RichardMEL, UA 1K A Star Alliance Member. |
Does having a crush on somebody count....? http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif
|
Ok, I'll admit it, I have a crush on Gaucho and arturo is my boyfriend. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif
I have also acquired various children and some other blood relatives on FlyerTalk. [This message has been edited by Punki (edited 11-27-2001).] |
The crush only counts if you announce it here http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif
And Punki dear, I was trying to be serious you know, but along those veins, I admit a bit of a thing for PremEx <g,d & r> http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/biggrin.gif ------------------ RichardMEL, UA 1K A Star Alliance Member. |
okay okay since it is going to come out sooner or later, I confess, me and blairvanhorn, we shared mongolian noodles like the scene in Lady and The Tramp (guess who is Lady and who is Tramp? http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif)
am also looking for some good FT kids to adopt http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif mama belle |
Eeeek!
|
RichardMel, Great topic! I have wondered this many times. Seems like FT would be an ideal place for singles to meet. I had often thought about asking the same question.

Yes, it's true, this Tramp has finally found his Lady (and I've been looking for a very long time).
We are taking things slowly for the moment and the only thing we've really shared are noodles and e-mails. I must admit I am smitten; I have never written songs for anyone before in my life. My first Grammy will be dedicated to Belle. As for kids, FT or otherwise, I think we need to talk. |
As the self proclaimed "historian" of Flyertalk, I can state as far are I know...
There have been NO Flyertalk related weddings as of yet. As I stated before, a FLyertalk wedding is the meeting of two flyertalkers or a flyertalker and a non flyertalker brought together by a flyertalker. There have been a few couplings but I would never say who they are or have been. I have found many acquaintances and several very very close friends through Flyertalk but I don't think that counts to your question. FYI RichardMel... PremEx is spoken for! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif [This message has been edited by Catman (edited 11-28-2001).] |

But they do love their FT mother dearly so don't be too harsh. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif |

Double Eeeek!
Hey. Waddya say we change the subject. How 'bout those Mets? |
PremEx, this is Commander Catcop...
Super work getting this topic quiet! FOUR PAWS UP! How would you like a job as "acting Commander catcop?" the current one is currently in jail for Falling asleep on the job and accepting bribes of beer at some do in SEA! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif And Catman says the Mets hopefully will do better next season. |
Not to worry PremEx - I'm not that way inclined. But honestly, if one was so inclined, how could one go past someone who has given us (at least those of us in United land) so much useful information and support over the years, and how could anyone resist a guy with the name _Love_? http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif
But don't worry, I'm interested in someone with a few more curves in the right places http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif I suppose "real" FT couples could be quite hard to form - as everyone's always on the road. However imagine the joy of both passing that elite level together, enjoying that free night's stay in a special resort, and of course having your own private "coupon connection"? okay I think I'll leave this thread well alone from now on http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/biggrin.gif ------------------ RichardMEL, UA 1K A Star Alliance Member. |
I know of at least 5 ... and that doesn't count people who fell in love with themselves on FlyerTalk... but my lips are sealed. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif
|
And here I was afraid if I attended the JAN singles do, it would be all about meeting that special someone and walking down the aisle with kids soon after ... Aaahhhhhhhh!
Thanks, I may just go, now that that I know I won't have to worry about coupling up ... at least in a way that's legal. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif |
I can think of at least one couple that met via FT that was at both CatManDo III in NYC and the FT meeting in San Diego in July. (He posted a question. She replied via e-mail. The rest is history.)

Very interesting....perhaps I'll change my maybe to the January singles event in MSY to a confirmed??? http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif

I have only met a few nice people, but I am happily partnered and so were they.
However, I have a nice brother, DL PM next year, good job (doctor), single, living in the midwest I'm trying to set up. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif I think the idea of meeting someone through FT or FT friends is a neat idea. Finding someone with the same passions is always a plus. Good thing DP and I like to travel so much, sometimes those hours on a plane, happily both sitting and reading books in anticipation of a meal in paris or a gambol in strasbourg are just as memorable. |
Hmmmmmmm. How long do these relationships have to last to count? I think of 5 as well but, at least so far, none of them have resulted in any knot tying.

I am predicting that the children of any FT union will require some serious cult deprogramming and years and years of intense psychotherapy.

Well this is really exciting news. I have proposed marriage to Quiet Lion a couple of times in the past (always his marriage to Hunnybear, of course) and had always gotten the, "Marriage, Bah, Humbug," response.
I should have known that a girl as cute, smart, funny and just plain adorable as Hunnybear would evetually change his mind. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif |

Can you believe the manager came back and not only said he would he not upgrade us, but now he said he couldn't even find the reservation!!!" http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif Congrats! |
Thanks to everyone for the kind words regarding QuietLion's and my engagement. Apparently, I passed the test http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/biggrin.gif

QuietLion, Will you be eating dessert at the reception?
My best to you both. |
