Excellent plan fly..but as a pre-function to the impending world series sweep, I was thinking Ichiro Bobblehead doll night or something of that sort....

Any takers?

Get the tickets now!!!

Tickets are becoming tough to get. Bleachers are sold out for the rest of the month. I had to get upper reserved seats (300 Section) yesterday for tonight's game vs/ the Padres. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/eek.gif

The Emerald City is in love with the M's right now and it is quite exciting to be here. They have tied the 2nd best record in the history of baseball, the All-Star Game is here next month, and Ichiro is a pretty darn good player!

So in short, if you want to go see the M's play this season, get the tickets ASAP.

by the way... the Ichiro Bobbing Head Doll Promotion Night is July 28th (vs. the Twins). This is also the day of the Portland Brewers Festival!

Tickets are getting very difficult to secure; even for upper outfield. C'mon...we're talking about one of the best teams in the history of baseball!!!!!!!!

Enjoy the regular season, Mariners fans. Your competition in the American League East will be awesome in the playoffs!

chexfan Jun 10, 2001 9:00 am

Actually... Lowe's Edgar Martinez All-Star Collector Pin Night is Friday July 27th. I only know this b/c I was planning on bringing a visitor to Seattle to that game!

missydarlin Jun 10, 2001 10:09 am

Thanks chex..I was too lazy go over to the M's website http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

I'll be at the June 27th, July 27th, and Sept 7th (Olerud Collector Pin Night) games if anyone wants to meet for a drink in the Bullpen.

So where is the Bullpen Bar and how does one get tickets to it? Is it like the Hit it Here Cafe, or can you just buy a cheap seat and hang in the bar?

Was there for the Rangers on Monday...**** Boone was on fire like Los Alamos in summer 2000...great game. Hope I can make it back to Safeco soon!

Straight from the Mariners website:

The Bullpen Pub provides a sports bar experience with the fun and excitement of a ballpark atmosphere. Fans can peek into the bullpen and watch the manually operated scoreboard from behind. You can access the pub via the Bullpen Market through the Center Field Gate (open three hours prior to game time).

I didn't find anything requiring extra admission, like the Hit it Here Terrace, so I'm assuming you can just hang out there. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

0524,

Last fall a certain Seattle fan paid off a bet in person to me at JFK! It seems a certain team LOST to our Yanks. ;D

Name not mentioned to protect a certain good guy flyertalker.

From Ticketmaster:

Bullpen Pub: Located on Field Level, Left Field. Sports bar concept - order from your seat, limited menu - burgers,
chicken strips, etc.

Sounds like it's just another of the 30,000 "food outlets" at Safeco. (Whatever happened to concession stands? http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/confused.gif ) I'll stroll down there one day and check it out. If worse comes to worst I can always buy the aformentioned $10 cheap seat and it'd be not unlike paying a cover in Pioneer Square. Except with no tear gas. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/biggrin.gif

PS-Did you feel the quake this morning?

Slept right through it.

I assumed the bullpen pub, was that area at the edge of center field, next to the bullpens where the people are always standing outside leaning against the railing hoping for a dinger to be hit to them. But it's very possible that I am entirely mis-informed.

Dhammer53,

I understand fully. An individual can be misguided in his/her baseball team allegiance, but still a worthy FlyerTalker.

A Yankee fan though I am, it WOULD be great to see a game in the Mariners' new park.

missydarlin Jun 10, 2001 6:25 pm

0524,

Misguided though you may be, you are welcome at Safeco field anytime http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

Hunki Jun 10, 2001 8:55 pm

missydarlin,
Punki isn't much of a Mariner's fan, but I've been watching them on the tube all spring, and I think it's time to make it out to the old ballpark. I'll see if it fits into our schedule.

flytoeat Jun 10, 2001 11:00 pm

Missy:

The bullpen pub is not in center field, but rather in left field underneath the hand operated scoreboard. It has little windows through which you can watch the game while having a beer on a stool. It also has neat little windows through which you can watch the visiting team's catcher warm up the relief pitcher. The pitch comes straight at you. It's pretty cool after a couple of cold ones.

Thanks, missydarlin, that would be a lot of fun!

No wonder Mariners' tickets are so hard to buy. After 34 games, the Mariners lead the American League in attendance with 1,367,000 paid admissions (per-game average of 40,231).

chichi Jun 12, 2001 2:15 pm

Glad I got my tickets back in Feb, I will be at the June 23rd game against the Angels. Cant wait to see Safeco Field, I hope it is as good as Camden Yards in Baltimore. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/biggrin.gif

Never saw Cal Jr. and his gang play at the Yards, but at Safeco at least you can get sushi. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/biggrin.gif

(not that I trust raw fish at a ballpark, but your mileage may vary...)

whlinder Jun 13, 2001 3:11 pm

Camden is better than Safeco.

Nothing at Safeco can touch Boog's.

No matter. Inside is inside, and after a few beers and a couple of brats and some good conversation, I'll be just fine. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif

See ya on June 27th (hopefully!)

TravelWeary Jun 14, 2001 7:54 pm

I'm taking the train full of 1,200 crazed Mariner fans to the game on 6/24.

Just bumping this thread up in case someone else is going to be at the game next Wednesday .....

Unfortunately I won't be able to make it. Gotta work that night. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/frown.gif

I don't know what you folks are talking about. I had no trouble whatsoever securing tickets on the first row of club level between home and first base the morning of the game a couple of weeks ago. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/biggrin.gif

I'd like to point out that the Yankees are looking forward to giving Seattle a whupping when the Mariners visit New York Aug. 17-19.

OK, missydarlin, it's time to get serious. I am sure the nFT doesn't condone betting (Randy, forgive me). However, if the rarest of rare events occurs and the Yankees lose the August series in New York, I will send you one, genuine, certified "Big Apple". (Since I'm a native Vermonter, it probably would be a Macintosh.) What are you willing to put up in the probable event the Yankees whup the Mariners?

chexfan Jul 27, 2001 12:31 am

I'll be there on 7/27

missydarlin Jul 27, 2001 12:32 am

I'll see your big apple with a certified Starbucks Mocha Frappucino and raise you one Alaska Airlines pleather luggage tag

0524 Jul 27, 2001 6:21 am

Missydarlin, I'll match the Alaska Airlines leather luggage tag with a genuine jumbo pretzel and one package of mustard purchased from an authorized Yankee Stadium vendor. It can't get any better than that!

I have a soft spot in my heart for Alaska Airlines. My first flight was January 1966 on Alaska Airlines between Anchorage and SeaTac. It was a 727 with "Golden Nugget Service"! We boarded from the tarmac using the rear stairs. Departure was 11:45 p.m. on a rare, cloudless night. A full moon reflected off the snow-capped mountains! Great memory.

Go, Mariners! (Except when they play the Yankees.)

missydarlin Jul 27, 2001 2:23 pm

I wasn't even BORN yet in 1966..LOL

So what do I get for a sweep? Can I have Derek Jeter hand feed me the pretzel?

Have a great day!!
