Had a Great time at the Annual Rudi SFO Gathering!

Well, I just got home from another SFO
FT gathering, this time at 21st Amendment Bar and Grill.
I had a great time and it looked like everyone else there did as well. I met some new faces and got to see some old ones and I'm really glad I went.

Thanks to:
Rudi: For coming out here again and giving us an excuse to Party!

ChanelCinq: For handling the arrangements and oft-onerous duty of managing the tab and the National Lounge passes.

Raffy for the cool airline tchotchkes(I got a Lufthansa C-Class amenity kit)

Punki:For being Punki!

everyone at my table for putting up with my tales of woe regarding life in post-dotbomb San Francisco.

pshuang for the totally impromptu, but cheerfully provided nonetheless ride home.

everyone for showing up

You guys are great!

JD

Geez. Is this the extent of the reports by attendees?

Must be a lot of folks "sleeping in!"

Well, Brunch was fairly early this morning IIRC and the game right afterwards, so I'm not too surprised I haven't seen much here.

Thanks for Channelcing for all the work of putting the dinner together! Great job! Punki, Smooth and I made it an early night and retired back to the Hilton to get our beauty sleep. Peregrine and Comicwoman came in later, and Koko, alot later. So, it's no surprise that there have not been many posts. We didn't get up until 8:00am and made it to Fook Yuen for dim sum at 10, giving a ride to Smooth and Comicwoman. The restaurant was a great recommendation by dgolds, and we made it out in time to catch our flight back to Seattle, which was unfortunately delayed by 2 hours. So, we took advantage of our delay to visit the new RCC on the concouse. Very nice! They even serve the warm mixed nuts in a bowl when you order a drink from the bar.
The decor is very nice with piles of olde leather luggage stacked on granite counters. Lots of windows and telephones for getting on line.
We're looking forward to the next gathering. Hope that Rudi and Mizu are enjoying the game with Smooth and Koko.

I'm sorry I wasn't there but it sounds like everyone had a grand time. But honestly now, is there really a Chinese restaurant named
Fook Yuen? That's a reach. But clever, never to be forgotten, once learned; America's Great Reply, hooray and Fook Yuen for lunch.

What a fabulous evening. I had a wonderful time seeing so many familiar faces and meeting new ones. I was able to socialize with more that 2/3rd of the group even though I at least met every one of you.

Thanks to:

Punki for getting the ball rolling on this FT dinner

Rudy for the two beautiful bottles of Chanel Cinq perfume

raffy for the the miscellaneous give aways to the entire group

kokonutz for making me laugh so hard when he rode in the trunk of my convertible on the way to the night club since Peregrine and Comicwoman were already crammed in the passenger seat. Where is a camera when you really need it.

Mizu and kyklin and now we just have to wait for you two to post the photos.

[d]dgolds[/b] thanks for organizing the brunch this morning. Too bad time seemed to go so fast this morning.

I really had a great time. Thank you Punki and ChanelCinq for organizing the event. The food was great and it was a really well planned event.

Punki and Chanelcinq: Thanks again for organizing a great party. And ChanelCinq, for the Lounge Passes.
Magic111: It was a pleasure spending the evening with you and your wife.
Opus17: For opening my eyes to the fact that Delta is not that bad. Everyone is different and so are there traveling plans. And that no one program fits all.
Raffy and Tim: Thanks for the great door prizes( really unexpected ). Had a great time chatting with Tim about his work and travel plans.
PsHuang: For letting me know that the magic figure was '13'. And I was feeling great with '4' of mine.
Pacha: Had a nice time talking to you. Hope you liked the beer.
DGolds: For making me feel at home instantly. Hope to see you soon.
Smooth: Had fun talking to you. Wish we had more time.
Squeakr: First FTer I met and still my favorite.
Rudi: Thanks for the tip about the best massage joints in the world. And for an interesting viewpoint on why there cannot be another PIP like the "first" one.

Peregrine/Chemist661/Mizu/Thommsf/Joelle/Gail: Had a nice time talking to all of you.

And thanks to everyone else for being there on Saturday night.

Thanks for everyone on my table in the morning for sharing the news about me getting 'carded'. Funnily, you guys are the first ones to know.

How could I forget? I got to hold Freddie Jr in my own hands. Anytime Freddie Jr needs to be escorted somewhere he has not been, I would be more than happy to volunteer.

Thanks to CC for organizing the event.

Apologies for Bourne for nearly maiming him as I knocked Freddy Jr. over into a burning candle and sending hot wax into Bourne's general direction.

And I wasn't even drinking (well, one beer).

Thanks to raffy for the door prizes (some fairly high class trade-show giveaways -- I work for companies whose trade show giveaways are in the 5-20 cent range...).

By the way, the food was very good. Good choice of restaurant.

Ahhhh. This explains all the windy noises in the background when koko woke me with his cell phone call... at 3:40 a.m. EDT!

This was my most fortunate FT gathering ever. I have to say that good fortune smiled on me all weekend long. Especially when things went 'wrong' it was one step back and 5 steps forward!

- I missed Frick at the DEN 1k center but did leave roses for her.

- I ended up with a wacky Swiss seat opponent DEN-SFO. After is Jerry-Lewis prat fall that had me in stitches, Rudi and I made up our first suites into beds and lay there enjoying adult beverages and chatting like girls at a sleepover! Beckles will be pleased to knwo that I did show Rudi the PROPER way to enjoy a Miller Lite.

- Rudi and I were deplaned way over at the new international terminal since our 777 was turning around to LHR, but we did take the opportunity to check out the new RCC there.

- At the Hilton, Cityscape was taken over by a wedding party, but Hilton FTers did get together to pour our own drinks at the Hhonors Llounge.

- After Punki displayed the characteristics that make her the toughest CEO in Seattle (yeah, tougher then HIM for sure) on negotiating rides to the restaurant, we were greeted at the restaurant by the gorgeous and vivacious Chanel.

- Met and renewed acquantances with so many fabulous flyertalkers! The atmosphere and setting were perfect as we were in a private loft with three long tables and, natch, our own private bar.

- At the restaurant, I managed to not make too much of an ... of myself (others may correct me on this point...Erica...).

- The food, micorbrews, black russians, cosmopolitans and vodka tonics were all excellent and totally economical!

- When the diehards decided to go clubbing, disaster struck AGAIN as there were 4 pax for a 2-seat Del Sol. But those babies have VERY roomy trunks. PLUS I got to fulfill my mob-hit-victim-in-a-trunk-scenario fantasy! Contrary to CC's comment, thank GOD no one had a camera...

- At the club, after the pseudo-humiliation of climbing out of the trunk, as Dom and I waited for the ladies to park the car, I chatted with the club bouncer who, as it turned out, went to my high school's rival here in Northern VA. Rather then accusing me of displaying visual signs of intoxication (which I'd have to assume I was) and refusing me enterance, he waived my $15 cover charge!

- The club had no 180. But they did have Red Bull....

- The rest of the evening (morning) is very fuzzy. Suffice to say there was lots of dancing, bubbles, smoke and laughing.

- Naturally, I missed my 6am flight and rebooked a nooner, but this meant that I could attend Dim Sum brunch. Got to see Dgolds and the gang!

- At brunch, the SAME wacky swiss guy conspired with an apparent KGB operative to then make me miss THAT flight with the offer of tickets to the 49ers game. After mulling that offer for about 3 nanoseconds, I called UA and rebooked to the redeye.

- At the game Rudi got me and Mizu quite lost. Elevators, players entrance, handicap entrance. But then I go to my seat...22nd row on the 40 yard line and sitting next to a lovely blonde!!!!!!!!!!

- The 9ers looked awful until the 4th quarter and went on to win in overtime in a way so exciting that we literally saw a fan getting medical attention on our way out.

- I was sooooo tired so waived off dinner in the city. But good fortune struck again as I was given a room key to Rudi's Airport Marriott room where a bed awaited for me to ease my way to my midnight flight.

- I can honestly say that I have no memory whatsoever of the redye home from the moment I put my seat back just at takeoff until the FA woke me up to put my seat forward again. Now THAT's first class travel!!!!

Too, too many folks to thank! So take this as my personal thanks to everyone who was in the city of SF this weekend, whether you are a FTer or not :-)

But specifically:

ChanelCinq: For everything. Hey, I just thought of something: koko-chanel. Fun with FT handles!!!!

Rudi: Vati, ich kann nie Ihnen genug danken!

Smooth: Большое спасибо for getting up to go to the ladies room at the exact right moment during the game!!!

Geo: For being there and soundly asleep when we called you at 3am EDT so I could mock you for not coming...btw, I have a present for you from Rudi for next happy hour....

Let's all do it again real soon!

Actually, I was more worried about Freddie Jr. than myself.
