So you're coming to New York

If you're coming to New York City anytime soon, let us know.

The locals would love to meet you for a drink/dinner and flytalk. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif
Everytime I've attended one of these, I ALWAYS walk away with some good advice.

Anyone is invited. New folks and old timers.

Regards,
Dan

ClassicalGal May 9, 2001 9:02 pm

I'll be in NYC (my home town) the first week of July.
Exact dates still to be determined.

aislesonly May 9, 2001 9:07 pm

New York/Newark, wherever...

I had a great dinner with some outstanding conversation and some "flyer talk" with LarryU and Doc last Saturday at Forno's of Spain in Newark.

It was a good time and a great way for a "new FT'er" to meet some of the regulars. I encourage anyone who's flying through this neck of the woods to let us locals know when you're in town and we can plan more get togethers...

Joe.

Was just up in midtown two days running (from central Jersey) for some grueling business. Could have used the relaxation. Perhaps next time...

doc May 9, 2001 10:19 pm

"...next time..." for sure! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

Here's some info for those where points are not as important as cost:

From Frommers Newsletter
We constantly receive letters from would-be visitors to New York City, imploring us to name hotels where they can rent a room for under $100 a night. There are such places, but their vacancies are few, and a better course is to seek out one of the many companies that provide you with fully furnished studio apartments in New York City. One such firm is called A Hospitality Company--that's three words, "A Hospitality Company"--and it actually owns some 250 apartments in the City, which means that no one lives in them when tourists aren't around. The price starts at just $99 a night, and you get nicer arrangements than you'd receive in a hotel. Call A Hospitality Company at 800/987-1235 or, from New York, call 212/965-1102.

Hammer,

I may be up there in 4 weeks for a series of company meetings. I'll keep you posted.

ClassicalGal, so you're not from TX but you got here as fast as you could (like me)?

Hi Dan,

Had a great time at the Yankees game a couple of weeks ago - thanks again. More of you NYCers should have come. Our proposal to the City has been submitted, and assuming it gets approved I'll be doing 5 three-day NYC trips between mid-July and mid-November. Keep your fingers crossed.

Is that steak I smell? http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif

Old Gold May 12, 2001 9:35 pm

I've got an hour and a half layover from about 7:00 to 8:30 at EWR on Tuesday Evening, May 22nd. Can I "buy" anybody a drink at the President's Club?

Getting together becomes an exercise in co-ordination.

Hi Linda!

Just saw your post about today! I can probably make it! I'll try to be there at the gate! Or else I'll "page" you at the NWA WC! Which is quite small, as you know! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif

Hope to see you if at all possible! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

doc May 15, 2001 8:59 pm

TribeFlyer May 21, 2001 5:15 pm

dhammer53, doc, and whoever else is interested/available; I'll be shuttling up to NYC on Saturday, June 2 to see the Indians play the Yankees. Does anyone else want to join in the fun?

doc May 21, 2001 9:07 pm

Oh man, just by a day! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/eek.gif

I'll be home for my sons late morning soccer game and late afternoon baseball game that day. We're going to be at the next Cleveland game on Sunday, the 3rd!

Can we perhaps convince you to stay for Sundays game too? http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif When do you leave?

dhammer53 May 21, 2001 9:22 pm

Hi Guys,

I'm in LA for a sales meeting that weekend. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/frown.gif
I would have loved to see my YANKEES beat the indians.

Dan

doc May 23, 2001 11:36 am

Matt- Sadly, I've got a morning meeting and a 12:30 luncheon appointment as well, so I'll have to pass. Next time, I hope! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

doc, et.al. --

Is the Yankee game get together still on for Sun., June 3? I'll be in town and even tho I'm a Tiger fan, would love to see a game in Yankee stadium. What time does the game start? If not too late, I can probably do it, but have to be at Carnegie Hall by 6pm for a concert I'm singing in.

arkangel

doc May 30, 2001 1:39 pm

I understand that you get to Yankee Stadium the very same way that you get to Carnegie Hall - practice, practice, practice! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/biggrin.gif

Well, Tribeflyer will be shuttlin' in for the Saturday game and I'll be back in town on Sunday for the 1:05pm start vs CLE!

If you email me or post your arrival, stay, departure or whatever details, perhaps we can hook up just before the game or whatever. I believe that there are still a few seats left now for both these games!

Hope to see you! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

i need a good steak! Let's pick a weekend and go get one. LarryU has suggested the Sage Brush in Morris Plains, NJ (or thereabouts). Its not TOO far from NYC. Other ideas are welcome, too!

Pacha Jun 5, 2001 10:27 pm

I would also enjoy to meet some fellow Flyertalkers. I'll be in NYC from JUL 24-27, on the last leg of my 6 week summer travel plans... I'll be staying at 1 Lincoln Center in an apartment owned by a family member of mine....

I haven't been to SageBrush for dinner ever since me and a certain feline set our table on fire. I am positive the 168 oz (each) of Sam Adams had nothing to do with it. It certainly was fun while it lasted. I still can't understand why the waitress cut us off. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif

I am actually flying to NYC tomorrow (6/6) and will be hanging around EWR on Saturday and Sunday. I wouldn't mind visiting SageBrush again one of these days; I think their prime ribs are great. As I will be car-less, I' guess I'll have to settle for Spanish/Portuguese in Newark.

I'll be in town from 8/23-26. I'm interested in visiting Shea to see those awful 2001 New York Mets. Probably Saturday on the game. Friday would be great for dinner. Let me know if anyone is interested. Catman says, "I'm almost set to be there."

Watchful Jun 30, 2001 6:00 am

My son and I will be in NYC July 4-8...getting in to LGA on 7/4 afternoon, having taken advantage of cheap fares out of DFW. Staying at the Millenium Hilton near World Trade Center on a super Priceline rate of less than $80/night including all taxes/fee/etc. Looking forward to a fun weekend...and maybe getting bumped along the way!

doc Jun 30, 2001 6:53 am

Welcome to NY! Enjoy the absolute "best" fireworks display in the world in arguably the "best" city in the world! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif I'll be watching 'em too! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif
