Goldlust .. as posted earlier in this thread, train or bus SEA-YVR-SEA is a pretty smooth and not so expensive option to maybe consider if the AC option does not work? Be nice to catch up with you again. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif
Is there more than one Renaissance Hotel in Vancouver? Tribe Flyer mentions the "Renaissance Harbourside". The one Tom911 and I booked is styled as: Renaissance Vancouver Hotel 1133 West Hastings Street Vancouver, British Columbia V6E 3T3 Ended up paying twice what Tom911 did for same weekend, so his bid was real skillful timing. My guess is any bids on Priceline now for *** at around $50 without bonus, will likely get this property: http://pub4.ezboard.com/fpricelinean...art=41&stop=60 ------------------ ~ Glen ~ |
Renaissance is overlooks Coal Harbour. Pretty run down hotel IMO.
Also try www.deltahotels.com. The brand new Delta Pinnacle is downtown and is amazing!!! Have been staying in a King Suite there for CAD100-125 lately... Dorian |

For those considering rail, AmTrak is offering a bargain rate fare of $13.60 each way (no taxes) between Seattle and Vancouver during that period.
Unfortunately this applies only to the daily direct train service which irritatingly only departs Seattle early in the morning 7:45 am or so (usually forcing an overnight stay in Seattle) and gets back just before 10 pm which is too late except for a handful of redeyes. Getting to and from SEA and the Seattle rail station is not cheap if you are in a hurry. http://reservations.amtrak.com/rs.html |
Hello again all!
I am now CONFIRMED! 17-05-2001 15:35 16:35 SK 0937 Copenhagen SAS Seattle 20-05-2001 18:55 13:25 SK 0938 Seattle SAS Copenhagen Price: ca. 454.26 USD. (Is that a good or bad price? What do you think?) We agree that the event takes place 18-20 of May in YVR right? I really hope kempis can come also. Looking forward to meet you all (and some of you for the 2nd time). http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif ------------------ Goldlust |
Good news Goldlust - the Carlsbergs are on you! Great to see you have given yourself a bit more time than you have in NYC. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif Kempis will need to try and add to the ranks of the Scandinavians now.
Tropical Flyer's updated attendee list will be getting pretty long right now. $454 looks pretty good for all those miles to me. Think of all those points! ------------------ ~ Glen ~ |
Okay, more info will be posted by tomorrow (Thursday) a.m.. For dinner on Saturday, I'm leaning towards a moderately priced steak and seafood restaurant. I figure the company is more important than the number of stars a restaurant has.

Fantastic! All the Hong Kongese (Hong Kongians?) have moved to Vancouver since the 100-year lease was up. I see another perfect opportunity for chopstick hunting! (I am an avid chopstick collector) http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/biggrin.gif
I'll be there, even though the entire 3-hour drive from Seattle REEKS of cows. WOO-HOOO |
moderately priced steak and seafood restaurant.
2 votes for that! Our Pacific Peso currency is on par with the Laotian Kip in recent days. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/frown.gif ------------------ ~ Glen ~ |
You should try and get to Allegro for dinner one night...cannot beat it.

I'm fine with anywhere for Saturday night's dinner... Although I would prefer casual, since I'm getting in around 3 on Saturday afternoon....
Steak and seafood sounds fine... KevinB |
Site is still being updated, but I thought some of the info would be useful for people looking for information.

Checked out the web site. Really appreciated the restaurant link that allowed me to preview the menu http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif
What's going on with the transit strike in Vancouver? Is this expected to be settled shortly? |
Great website...thanks TF & CocoaNut!
Hope to move us from Maybe list to Confirmed within the week. |
