What has happened?

I've seen several oblique references to some action on Randy's part in response to the ugliness of late. Can someone share any specifics? I infer that someone has been banished for some period of time?

I understand also that some members have received emails to eradicate multiple aliases. I wonder if this was only generated to those w/ more than two? The reason I ask is that I have two (and I have publically admitted this previously) and received no such email. My second alias - lurker FF - is never used to post beyond the 2 or 3 times I did so way back when. But it has occasionally come in handy when trying to re-enter chat and the chat server seems to think that svpii is still in there and won't let me reenter.

I'll abide by the expressed rules and regulations of FT, just as I do in all cultures and organizations to which I have pledged loyalty. I maintain that it's silly, since every identity here is by definition an alias and restricting the number of those apparently has no effect on the mean-spirited activity that inspired such a rule to begin with. What I already miss is the fun that was generated by some of the alter-aliases. Rules in response to events that don't end up altering those events and only serve to unnecessarily limit the scope of experience, in my opinion, should be reviewed again.

But I checked my email, and it seems noone made me Queen last night, so I'll be compliant

On a sadder note, I am distressed by the exit of so many friends here who find it personally necessary to make this choice. I will hope that things will calm down and that they will find it in their heart to reconsider.

svpii,

I too am saddened by what is happening - whatever it is! There are many people leaving this forum. These are all really good people. I personally have never met any of them, but I have come to like and respect them through their many, excellent posts.

That said, I am also a bit angry with them. I am angry that they have chosen to give up - to "cut and run". These people are, whether they like it or not, our leaders here on FT. I understand their frustration but if the best they can do is give up - then maybe it is time for new leaders.

Some of you will ask - who is this "RKG"? I am simply someone who has learned much from all of you in the past year or so. I didn't post much. You talked - I learned. Well, I am not finished learning!!!

To each of you that are leaving, I sincerely ask that you reconsider. You are liked and needed here on FT. Each of you will be sorely missed...

RKG (Bob)

So many leaders cutting out at the same point in time. This place is going to become r.t.a pretty soon. Ownership could have stopped this, but decided not to do so. That is their right, but I personally think it has been a mistake.

All these people leaving at once makes me wonder if there is an alternative to FT being created out there someplace.

If and when a new board is created, I will participate. Until then I remain loyal to FT and all my friends out there. Let time take it's course and perhaps some of our best and brightest members will return. It hurts me to see so many fine people leaving. Yes, a sad day for us FTer's.

Can anyone post what the result is? Why is there so much silence on the "solution" to the problem while we lose many valuable members? The solution can't be private when the whole community is up in arms!

I believe CameraGuy and Ozstamps both have a one week ban from FT.

Well, Ozstamps has certainly been posting today (on The Buzz, for one place) so that doesn't seem to be it. I too would like to know what's going on. The obvious fallout is veryvery depressing.

... and why not an official post to explain the position of FT? Since we are losing so many valuable members, I would think that this would be addressed immediately?

Why the secrecy???

Yes, that would have saved numerous threads and dozens of posts today.
