And I am positive the "mod squad" will understand that one must live with one's own history...

I'm confused. . . what is the point of bringing up a thread from over 5 years ago? What point does this serve? Where is the "good" in this?

Why post the same exact thing in three (3) separate threads?

I think onefreeman was pretty clear in his reasoning for bringing up the past (lest it be forgotten & you know the saying about that)

(edited to add: Welcome back onefreeman! At least I hope you're back!)

I agree with ldsant.

I don't think this thread should have been bumped. But given that it has, I'd like to ask the bumper whether he has posted to FT under a handle other than the one he's used here.

I agree, and I'm sure he'll answer your question given he's so keen to bring up "transparency and openness".

He's also helped me decide that one of my Talkboard votes is going "Down Under". OFM, thanks for making my decision easier. ^

I didn't realize that janejet was running this year.

It's unfortunate that voting members cannot easily go back and research anything back beyond the last 500 posts of a member, unless they have specific keywords or other search critieria to narrow the list. While I am afraid that onefreeman's approach will trigger a sympthy vote (as the last post illustrates), hopefully other members will ponder the rancor that began over five years ago and wonder if they should want more of it.

Hiding behind the guise of "I want transparancy, but if you say anything bad about me it's a TOS violation" is a clever ploy. Hopefully when he is unfortunately elected, a fact to which I have resigned myself, he can use this cleverness to help Randy find ways to increase the advertising revenue generated by FT.

What is the most interesting to me reading these old threads is how some past enemies have now aligned themselves as candidates. I'd love to know why, but I can't figure out how to pose the question to submit to the FT election email.

And before somebody asks, I don't need a multiple handle, nor have I ever been suspended.

Perhaps this was dredged this up in response to my cryptic post from the Who are you going to vote for thread: “Those who have been in protracted flaming wars concern me. But more concerning are those who have not humbly apologized when wrong. I perceive that at least one of the candidates has not been above board about past peccadilloes, and this bothers me.”

Character counts.

Well onefreeman makes his first FT posts in 3 years and decides to bump up moldy 5 year old threads that were originally locked. I guess I or other Candidates could also bump up a pile of 4 or 5 year threads too, but I am sure that would NOT be something Randy would regard as in the best interests of Flyertalk.

You are right Wingnut - I'll bet my house that onefreeman was also posting as "miles hog" just 2 days back when Randy and Mods needed to edit out that nonsense. And needed to lock down another moldy thread another FT'er "helpfully" bumped here just a few days back.

'mileshog' was most clearly a duplicate handle - himself posting 6 years back (way before I joined FT) he "used to be a frequent poster" (currently has just 3 posts against that handle.) He was whining about FT even back then:

http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/showp...&postcount=182

onefreeman - why didn't you just nominate as a candidate instead of this silliness? Then all could see how many votes of support for your potential contributions to TalkBoard there would be. @:-)

Oz,

How much did you pay onefreeman to bump this five year old thread?

Last year, Attorney28's election to TalkBoard was given an immense boost by what many of us saw as an unfair campaign procedure against him. The boost was big enough to get him elected.

Onefreeman is obviously trying to do the same for you -- as was a neighbor of his, Mileshog.

Onefreeman, I see that you list your location as "Central America". You might be interested in knowing that Mileshog's IP was traced to Nicaragua. Perhaps the two of you can arrange a Meet -- I am certain that there are thousands of Central American FlyerTalkers who haven't posted in years who would love to get together.

There are plenty of tunnelers that can spoof IP addresses. And no, I am not voting for Ozstamps.

How is FlyerChat going? Your alternative website to FT, that only seems to talk about FT.

BTW, I never got the registration confirmation after signing up. You wouldn't be discriminating would you? :D

Nope, no discrimination at all. I just checked and you signed up yesterday -- send me a PM or e-mail and we will get the bureaucratic hold up straightened out in a second.
