I was at work Tuesday I think, and our telephone analyst came over to my desk. "I picked up a package at the front desk for you, it's from....(pause and surprise) Flyertalk Santa?" he said. It was a rectangle box, and I had no idea what might be inside. I opened it on my way home, to discover a beautiful bottle of wine from Austraillia, from 1994. So FlyerTalk santa, wherever you may be, thank you for the gift...and for the holiday cheer.

Well, jetsetter...I also received a lovely bottle of 1995 Meritage wine from my Secret Santa.

It is being held for only a week, and then Jackie & I will open it to toast our anniversary on New Year's Eve.

I waited until Christmas morning to open the box that was waiting for me after I returned from my SFO-BOS-MIA-IAH-SFO odyssey of the last two weeks. Inside were these four great gifts:

* "Hard Landing," a book about the airline industry (cover quote: "A colorful tale of robber barons on the loose")

* My very own copy of "The Airline Passenger's Guerrilla Handbook", which I've wanted a copy of since I first read about it here a couple of months ago

* 365 Days of Duct Tape calendar

And what to my wondering eyes should appear on Monday? Way cool zip-lok type bags that can/will compress my bulky (but necessary for trips back to the home land) down parka to such a size that I will actually be able to pack it in my suitcase!

On the way to the airport on Christmas Day, had to swing by my PO Box in Eugene. Received a lovely panda pin from the National Zoo in DC, given to me by the renowned international tennis pro, kokonutz!
