Definitely cheaper than Amtrak, but would you be able to get yourself to an MBTA station, and take the Commuter rail? Or, I suppose you could go all the way to Logan airport on the bus, and then just take the blue line back to the Kinsale. I think the blue line stops at the Government Center station across the street, but if not definitely stops at the Bowdoin station on the next block over from the Kinsale.

Hello Everyone!
I would like to attend on the Do on Monday, but I have never been to a Do before. Is there anything I should know before coming or just show up?

You'll get nothing and you'll like it. But I have added you to the list.
Update note At Kinsale, we usually snag a table outside. I don't know what the weather will be like, but it's unlikely to happen this time. I'm going to give them a buzz to see what they can do for us. Mike But on another note... the big area outside is under a well lit and well covered rooftop so rain cant get to us but cold and wind could. But it's often warm enough and maybe they have heat lamps--I cant recall if they do or could have them.

Red line to Park St then Green line to Government Center. That's a lot of work for the distance though, especially at rush hour and if you're not familiar with the T. I'd suggest you just walk over. It's going to be just as fast.
Now, does anyone here know why they call it a DO? I heard the reason last year so who else knows it? |

I just like how every time I see mikeef's nic on FT, I also see the word PAMPERS in bold below it :D (ok he's so gonna get me for that one) Note: For those who are not familiar with the area, I am happy to meet you downtown somewhere. The one request I have is that you be there by 5:30, so I can make it to the Do on time. Weather: We'll take it as it comes. I'd prefer to do it outside, but we can adjust as need be. Whether we're outside or inside, there's going to be a few tables, so we'll probably all be rotating, anyway. Mike |

I'll be in town a tad earlier and can also meet people. Tryin to get one FT legend to show up from a far and may meet him at the airport... And I have just invited a few others from FT and other mileage worlds who, while the tend to have egos the size of large pumpkins (and may deserve one in the face lol) they also may have some nice mileage tips to offer up in all their supposed wisdom. We shall see.

Great, another Boston DO! Sign me up as well!

Hi all, I had fun at the Chicago seminar and gotta keep the miles/points momentum on a roll, so would love to join you all in Boston Monday, assuming you're willing to have a guy from CT crash your party.
For my planning purposes, how late do your DO's typically go? Wanna make sure I am around after the beers have had a chance to get the best stories flowing out of the group! PS Hi TheBOSman. You and I were chatting with Frequent Miler together at the very end of the seminar. |

We'll certainly take a CT person:D:D. Just bring me some of them big sour pickles from Riens Deli please and I'll somehow make it worth your while for a bucket of em (should you seriously pass by the famed place on your way)! And are you from the Yankees part of CT or the RedSox part? lol
Hate the Yankees! I am a NL guy (Go Fightin' Phils!) as I grew up in Philly burbs. Since kids went to Boston schools the family has (sort of!) adopted the Sox as our AL team. |

@Marathon Man- I drive within 50 yards of Reins on the way up 84, and know it very well. It is a regular stop on our freq trips back and forth from Boston as both of my kids went to college in in Boston (and daughter still in grad school at BC now). I will have your sour pickle bucket in hand when I arrive! :D Anyone else in the group need anything from Reins? I'm happy to add to the MM order. Maybe I will change my handle to "Will bring food for miles/points tips too good to be blogged about" ;):D

I need like THE biggest bucket of the sour pickles you can buy. I will reimburse. And yeah, toss in a DR browns cream soda too lol hey maybe people should mail you their INK cards and grab some OD Vanillas on the way up lol. We have no OD here but there are a few in CT. Anyway this is great and so is your baseball mentality. Looking forward to meeting you and thanks in adv for the pickles. I think sour miles might work... as Mr Pickles is taken (but not stirred). :D |
