Sent both my Santa's their gifts today and have PM'd you wharvey.

For anyone receiving gifts from Australia or having to post from Australia, our postal system is quite expensive, so for anyone getting gifts from Australians, please note we are not as lucky as being able to ship stuff from Amazon with often free shipping to some of the other countries out there and restrictions on our credit card billing addresses etc. Postage alone this year cost me $65 and that was just standard post.
If you are requesting something that is heavy or large in size, please bear a thought for those of us with higher shipping costs!

I would also ask in the future as one of the previous posters, that people don't say they'll be happy with anything. Doesn't give any indication whatsoever on what to get! And though it is the thought does count, I would always rather get my SS something that may be useful.

As a first time participant (albeit late - hopefully my PM was received!) I have to say, coming up with a workable 'wishlist' was a lot harder than I expected! I am lucky enough that I have what I need, and can buy what I want. I am mostly in it for the surprise factor. :) And I really look forward to buying for others - I know I'm good at finding 'perfect' gifts for people I know, but strangers will present a whole new challenge!

(pun unintended, although appropriate)

Yikes!

So, for future reference, at least for my Santas, if you are shipping things to me from another country, gift cards and such are wonderful, especially if they are for Cabela's or restaurants local to me, or to feed my coffee habit or to feed my kibblers' treat habit. :) To me, there's no point in spending as much on shipping as you would on the present! :D Besides, do you know how expensive Stella and Chewy's Carnivore Kisses are, especially when your dogs go through a container every week? It's like doggy crack, and I have two addicted dogs at home! :D

Where possible, Santa tries to take into account shipping costs... and keep assignees close to each other.... or in the same country. Unfortunately, with the lack of international participation... that is very difficult.

Hopefully everyone understands and gts into the spirit!

I have updated the second post with everyone who has submitted to me with proper information... if your handle is not there, you need to resubmit.

Getting lots of interest after yesterday's mention again in Talkmail!

Just three more days to sign up or ask for more assignees!

Just wanted to remind everyone that you can ask your assignee additional questions by enlisting the help of fellow FT-ers ;) Sometimes all it takes is a question or two.

Did some FT snooping on my assigned victim this year and the search function brought up a few threads with over 100+ pages of posts :( that were originally started over 3 years ago. Then somewhere in the middle of all that found a very useful gem of info that I would not thought to have asked :)

:D I've been one of those FT'ers who helped by asking questions or conveying messages.

Still clueless what to send my victim... no big hints in the (voluminous) post history

Plus Santa needs a geography lesson, my international victim is nowhere close to my international location

HRMPH.... Santa knows his geography very well.... :)

When one does not ask for a "local" victim or if there is none available, other assignments have to happen.

nah, just googled the real name (missed that clue  ) and found a ton of info, which got me moving in one direction, albeit I'm even more confused on some aspects. :o

As I have had to tell many participants over the year, "If you choose to not provide some level of hints or ideas on what you like, you deserve the gifts you get. Do not then come and complain to me." :)

Funny thing is the same people do the same thing every year... just recycle what they provided the year before.
