Karen was such a kind, wonderful person. I didn't have the opportunity to meet her husband, but also enjoyed her company and friend at many events. For those in contact, please express my sympathies to her family and friends.

And you have hung out with some motley crews, BOB W. As have I.

But Karen could "unmottle" the best of us with her smile and kind, friendly way.

I only had the pleasure of meeting KLC during OzFest #7 in Adelaide, and to hear this news this morning i'm more than a little saddened.

I had the pleasure of guesting her in post-event to the ADL QP on her way home, where both KLC, De-De and myself had the pleasure of some sparkling repartee before our respective onward flights.

My condolences to her family and those in the FT and #freqflyer communities at large who knew her better than I did. Such a nice person and a sad loss.

It is true, I have hung out with the most motley, many of them multiple times:D

It was truly a joy to be able to spend time with Karen. Our "Sideways Do" was the last time we were together and it was a very nice trip with Karen and Alex joining us.

I can't remember where I last saw Karen, but I do know it was too, too long ago. My thoughts are with her family and friends.

Very, very shocked to hear of this - it doesn't seem that long since we were joking and laughing in MPL :( :( :(

KathyWdrf Aug 11, 2012 4:29 am

This is awful news, and it gives me a feeling of deja vu. Earlier this year, I was looking forward to seeing magic111 again at the BRT weekend in NYC; but he died suddenly, a few months before the event.

This time around, I was looking forward to seeing KLC again at the Krakow Do (a couple of weeks from now), only to learn that she has passed away.

May she rest in peace; and condolences to her family and friends.

I am reminded of the fragility of life and the arrogance of taking it for granted.

:(

I am so sorry to hear this. Condolences to her family and friends.

It seems like yesterday that we were all crammed into a small
vehicle scarfing down malasadas, getting cinnamon sugar all
over each other, and laughing like idiots.

I just sent a number of pictures of Karen from a variety of DO's. As Carol mentioned, they need these for the service. If you can take a few minutes and locate some, pls PM me and I'll give you her daughter-in-law's e-mail.

Thanks.

that's very sad news. may she rest in peace.

I first met Karen years ago in south Florida, and at just about every FT Do I attended from then on. She was a joyous, generous and caring person, and I have happy memories of each trip we shared together.

What a sad loss for her family.

Motley indeed ... But that's FT right? And one of the great pleasures is meeting people such as Karen down here in Oz ... My thoughts go out to her family ... She was a gentle, generous spirited person.

So sorry to hear about her passing.

Itsalongwaydown Aug 12, 2012 1:37 am

We met Karen in Cairns & Adelaide and she was great value and great fun. That is obvious by who she allowed herself to be photographed with.

A bad time for FT but more importantly a dreadful time for her family. We are so saddened by this news.

Our thoughts are with her.

I didn't know Karen went to UC Davis, just up the road from me. I enjoyed socializing with her at the two OzFests in Adelaide and Cairns, and I'm sure our paths crossed somewhere else in years past at other FT events. Rest in peace, Karen. I looked over my photos of her but they're mostly views from the side or back so won't be posting any. Thanks to those that have posted some great photos for us all to remember her with.

Very sad news, I had the pleasure of meeting Karen at the TLS Do, and she was very kind and sweet. I consider myself a lucky person to have met her. My warmest condoleances to all her family, Rest In Peace.

I was just made aware of KlC's passing. What an unexpected loss as I have met her for the first time a couple of months ago at the Tour de France Do. My condolences.
