Friday the 13th ... why not? :D (I could perhaps arrange to fly out of BWI on Sat morning)

as for next week: GrjApp has suggested a return visit to Mussel Bar in Ballston; off the top of my head, some other possibilities are O'Sullivan's Irish Pub and Liberty Tavern (both in Clarendon), Ireland's Four Courts (a block down from Court House Metro), Barley Mac (on Wilson Blvd between CH and Rosslyn), or Heavy Seas Ale House (Rosslyn; caveat being that it has been very crowded the last couple times I was there ~6pm)

A few suggestions near Clarendon. (I would rather not do Mussel Bar, since they have little on their menu for those of us who don't eat mollusks.)

1) Wilson Hardware Kitchen and Bar. Interesting menu and very good happy hour prices on drinks if we can get there early enough, say 6:30.

2) Heritage Brewing. A little more pub grub as far as food goes, but an intriguing beer list.

3) Spirits of '76. Decent beer list, extensive whisky list and classic American pub grub.

^ to Heritage; really good beers ... we discovered them ~2012 when they opened the brewery near where we lived in Manassas ... fwiw, I think most if not all their retail distribution is in cans rather than bottles

Happen to be visiting DC from Sept 6-14. Mind if I join the party?

Can do Wed 28 and maybe Thurs 29. Will be on the IAD side of the planet so this might work. Thurs 29 night will be in Dupont Circle area.

Looks like Mr. Kipper and I will probably be in the area September 12-14. We'd discussed dinner on September 13, but will also be available much of the day. We're also planning to attend an event in DC on September 12.

I clarified with kipper that we could do a dinner/evening thing on Friday the 13th so I'd like to aim for that for a BWI-based thing...

:D As long as Mr. Kipper and I can be in DC by about 10 PM, we're good.

a quick googlemap search for “brewpub” centered on the Columbia / Elliott City area west of BWI brings up 8-10 hits ... leaving that area ~830 would easily have you back in the DC metro area in an hour, and obviously far less if you’re going to the Maryland suburbs
