Thanks for the link. I believe this is the same aircraft I saw at DAL last May.

And yep, $880 is a bit steep. For that price, one should also be served Dom and/or Krug on board to begin the flight along with a complete muliticourse gourmet meal accompanied by a fine Bordeaux and/or Cab as well......

Why spend that much for a nice meal? Certainly there are more affordable ways to acquire such. If you want to fly on a classic aircraft, on the other hand.....

Ah, but $880 for a two hour aerial tour of the DFW area?

My thought was if they REALLY wanted to make it special, they would also include the gourmet meal with the high end booze......

I mean, how many times have I seen the DFW area from the air? Hint: My aerial views of this area go back to the days when TTa operated DC-9s.....

Seems a bit steep, no?

Not at all to me, given the costs of maintaining and operating that aircraft.

Besides, I really would rather spend the two hours enjoying the flight and the experience in the aircraft than be stuck in my seat for a meal. Again, I can get a very good meal for way less money pretty much anywhere in the world. Getting a flight on a classic aircraft is a different experience.

I understand what you're saying and would love to take this flight as well. However, I also have to consider the fact that I would have to spend additional money to travel to and from DAL for the flight. So the total cost of this nostalgic journey (for me, anyway) would probably be north of a thousand bucks. Given these uncertain economic times, that's a considerable expenditure.

And I still think it would be great if they would make the flight a bit more special. So let's forget my gourmet meal idea and think about something else like actually flying somewhere instead of orbiting around north Texas in the smog.

Santa Fe (SAF) is not too far away and the runway was extended awhile back so it should be no problem for the BAC One-Eleven to get in and out of there. That area of northern New Mexico is also far more scenic than the DFW area. Plus, during the stop, a lunch could be arranged in the SAF area at one of the great New Mexican style restaurants or at one of the terrific brewpubs.

Now if this were the itinerary, I would possibly be interested. Of course, I would still hope that quality beverages and spirits were served on board the aircraft......:p

I wish I could be in Dallas for this! I'm always up for a nostalgia ride - from de Havilland DH.89 Dragon Rapide (really) to CD-3s. BAC 1-11... I think my first was on AA! Followed by Air Malawi, BA, BN, LR/LACSA, Pacific Express (:sigh:), US, maybe a couple of others.

See post #15 above for the link to the tour operator's website.

This BAC One-Eleven flight will take place on August 27 at Dallas Love Field (DAL). The aircraft is currently parked on the west side of the airfield just south of the WN maintenance hangars.

The airplane is configured with an executive-style interior with 30 seats.

Flight is advertised as an aerial tour of the greater Dallas/Ft. Worth area at a cost of $880 per passenger.

And welcome to FT!
