Glad to see some interest. Just called them, they are booked through June and July (which actually does not surprise me). So I propose this, If you are serious about doing this, PM me with preferences of weekend vs weekday (note they are closed on Mon and Tue) and if there are any dates that would work for people, I am 100% in if can get just a few people on board.

Worth a trip in to Chicago. Count me as probable, likely +1.^

But Chicago, if it is in the winter, count us out. :td:

Ditto, Sept/Oct would be ideal, or wait until Spring.

September would be good for me but if you wanted to do it in the period Aug 10-22, we have FT visitors from Australia who would like to join in. Right now we would be a party of five who would almost certainly be there.

Glad to see getting responses from people, initially we are thinking of end of summer into september. Anyone more wanting in just PM so we can start coordinating dates. Come on, I know this is on a lot of people restaurant bucket list.

as with any Do, post some dates and if it works out, so be it!

Mrs Sweet Willie & I were fortunate enough to enjoy a 20+ course by Chef Achatz when he was at the restaurant Trio in Evanston IL. We've wanted to try Alinea for awhile now, so I'd say myself +1 would be interested depending upon dates.

I have been to Alinea twice. Hands down, it is the best restaurant in USA. I think that this is definately a foodie paradise, but anyone who likes food and art will be impressed. This is not some intimidating restaurant. It is creative, delicious and artfully prepared food that is entertainment and nourishment. If you go, get the grand tour (dont skimp now people, you are already spending a fortune). Also, go early, as this is a 5-6 hour meal experience. I am waitlisted for next week (fingers crossed). If I dont get in, I will probably be up for this outing.

Wait, I thought it wasn't even the best restaurant in Chicago anymore...doesn't that honor belong to Next?

Next is certainly harder to get into because we just cant get enough of Grant Achatz, but I think the verdict is still out on whether it is better.

We are looking at early to mid/late august or sometime in september. Basically you have to reserve this place in advance, so we can not nail down a date until we know an exact head count and what is good with people

I figured, I'll have to back out. Most every weekend is spent going up north on vacation and I can't commit during weekdays due to business obligations.

Went to Alinea on Friday. Truly divine. Chef Achatz prepared dessert at each table. It was really special. As I limit myself to one 500 dinner a year I wont be attending this event, but I will still be dreaming about the food.

Schedule it so as to coincide with the Chicago Seminars, end of October, linked in my signature.

Two birds...

End of October first November is not so good for us.

Mid-August is best and then late August and first three weeks in September.

We are ready when millsdale is.

+1 ^.

Unfortunately, the Tour is no more. There's currently only one menu, at $195.

Update: the menu is now $210. http://www.alinea-restaurant.com/pages/menus/menu.html
