I could reel off a long list of superlatives but instead i'll sum up the entire event in one word, "outstanding" ^

A massive thanks guys for bringing us all together and for the wonderful and warm hospitality.

In closing, here is an example of 'Nujoum' delivered BA style…

Great photos! :D

A question re what to wear outside of Hotels etc for tourists, as we are there in a few days and packing right now.

Seems like it is over 100 degrees now. Are neat Hawaii/Asia style shorts and sandals acceptable for the streets for obvious Western tourists, or are they generally more conservative that that re dress?

Margo has same question re women .. and we've been to Libya, Tunisia etc, and know standards differ a lot.

In general shorts, a shirt and sandals are fine for most areas here.... if you want to be a respectful tourist then ladies should keep shoulders and knees covered when in public areas (the beach is an exeption to this, bikinis are fine on the beach)

You'll find that most tourists don't bother with any of this and walk around everywhere like they're going clubbing.... Emirati people will seldom say anything about this, but they will disapprove and there have been one or two cases of under-dressed females being spat at in the mall.

In general, just be sensible, it's a Muslim country, albeit probably the most relaxed one in the world. They need tourists and they know it, but that's no reason to force Westernisation upon them.

Above all, enjoy your time here, it's not got stupidly hot yet so outdoorsy stuff is still possible away from the middle of the day.

Saw no women in shorts or sleeveles tops in mall. (or anyplace, for that matter...) As the malls are kept pretty chilly you will want long sleeves...

Dubai Mall the biggest I have ever been to....found my way out to a cab after 6 hours via the Armani Hotel. Needed 3 more days to see the rest...

Back home for 15 hours now. Great Do.

What a shame we missed this one by a week. I've been to FT Doos on 5 continents, and this one sounded like a blast. Those exit slides on a A380 are a real experience I bet. :)

Hope we can talk some of you over to our annual OzFest! Number #9 is the next one. ;)

If anyone is still around town next week and has time to catch up for a drink etc, Margo and are arriving this Sunday for 3 nights and staying at Four Points Sheikh Zayed Road.

40 hours on planes from SYD via the USA is the LONNNNG way to get there!

We do not fly out until the midnight flight Wed 6th to IAD - connecting to Argentina, (via LAX - dont ask!) so we sure have a few hours to fill before that on Wednesday evening. :)
