We try to alternate between DC and NoVA. About 60% of our HHs are in NoVA -- mostly Arlington, but also Alexandria and, on occasion Fairfax County -- and 40% are in DC.

People are always welcome to propose HHs anywhere and anytime they wish. Assuming there's sufficient interest (generally 4 people or more), I'll post the event as a confirmed event in the first post of the thread.

Yes - thanks to TWAB747nomore. Three of us were just back from the Chicago Seminars - so we had some feedback to provide.

6 of us went to Spider Kelly's next door for dinner - nice and a lot more spacious. My dinner and softdrink bill total was $7.09 and that included tax (except tip). Half priced burgers (beef, chicken or veggie) are $4.
Dinner was cheaper than HH at Liberty Travern. (Drafts are $2.75 til 8pm at Spiders).

I recommend a repeat at Spider's.

Nice to put some faces to handles and see some folks again for the first time in a long time. ^

That was my first get together with FTers, it was fun and I'm glad I did it. But that kind of environment where I can't hear what people are saying and can't have a real conversation without shouting just doesn't do anything for me anymore. I got a vague idea of who a couple people were, but....

No more of that for me, maybe somewhere else in Arlington, maybe a late lunch or an Italian Store take-out to a park or a Sunday brunch before the first NFL game.

Thanks to TWAB747nomore for making the effort!

I am sorry it didn't work out for you and wasn't as fun as you had hoped. I will think of different venues for future events. Thank you for attending though

No worries, life is nothing if not endless variations on a theme. That's why we need FT to understand UA's FF program. :p

I'll be in town on the 17-21... How about a HappyHour that weekend?

I'm free on that Saturday, the 19th. Anywhere in particular you might be interested in?

I've been thinking of trying America Eats, the pop-up restaurant being run by Jose Andros in conjunction with the National Archives, specializing in historic American cuisine. But I don't know: a) how hard it is to get a reservation there and b) how conducive the environment is to conversation.

The dinner portion, while less attended, was in a quieter place, so perhaps we'll just have to mix up dinners and happy hours? I understand completely though, it's hard to get to know people you've never met in a loud crowded place.

I would be up for that, and I will be around that weekend, I've wanted to go see that exhibit too at the national archives :-P

I'm also free on Saturday the 19th. America Eats would be fine with me, but do be aware it's quite pricey, even for lunch. Reservations are substantially easier to get now than when AE first popped-up.

I'd like to hear back from our out of town visitor before making a commitment. I did notice that America Eats does brunch on Saturdays, as well as Sundays, which would actually work well for me if other people are up for about noon-ish.
