Election time ....
Hey community members. In case you might have missed it, there's currently a call among all members for candidates to help represent the members of FlyerTalk over the next year on the TalkBoard. Really is a great opportunity to help meet new members and as well do something great for the community.
Here's the link to the announcement and your chance to guide some of the decisions on FlyerTalk: http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/talkb...dates-416.html NOTE: So far only nine candidates for the 4 open positions so your chances might be better than you think. I'd run myself but they sort of gave me the benevolent dictator role some years ago. Good luck if you decide to run. |
NikDemus: Thanks for being candidate #10
Anyone else want to be considered a candidate? Quick quiz: The first candidate this year to register? A: danielbk |
Randy-
I tried clicking on the link you provided (http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/talkb...dates-416.html) and got this... You do not have permission to access this page. This could be due to one of several reasons: Are you trying to edit someone else's post, access administrative features or some other privileged system? This forum may require additional account pre-requisites that you don't current have. Check the Announcements for this forum to see if you're required to have a minimum number of posts already, etc. If you are trying to post, the administrator may have disabled your account, or it may be awaiting activation. |
I received the same error when I tried earlier today. You can find a good link in this post.

Candidate #11: bhatnasx
Thank you. |
I considered running, but the Q&A of the candidates covers a lot of StarMegado2 time (depart 10/31 & return really late the 7th or midday the 8th) & so I wouldn't be around to answer the questions. I know I actually read everyone's responses before voting, so have to assume not being able to 'til towards the end would probably hurt me. Too bad because with not that many candidates, I might actually stand a chance!
Cheers. |

Last time I ran
I came in BEHIND a member who had been established as a troll and was subsequently banned.
So I won't be running again :) |

I'm not physically around either, but don't you have internet access? Isn't that how this works? Answering via posting? I must be confused.
I leave at oh-dawn-hundred on Sunday, and looking at the schedule I might have a couple hours on Thurs & maybe a bit on Sat, but other than that I really won't have access until mid-day sometime on the 8th. So if I decided to run technically I could catch up on all the questions on the 8th or 9th & answer them then, but folk might wonder why I'm not responding & not realize I'm on SMD2. Of course if other folk running are also on SMD2 then I wouldn't be the only one to respond late. Cheers. |

Not sure if this is of any comfort. I recall there's at least one candidate who didn't answer any of the questions but got a good number of votes a couple of years back. I forgot if he was elected though. |

If you do run, consider adding a (temp) signature to inform voters you plan to answer the questions in your SMD2 free time so folks know you mean business.

Actually I was just doing that since i realized that i had started something here. I thought I'd do that irregularly so that this thread gets bumped up for potential candidates to see (but please don't tell the mods of my trick!). That darn Star Mega thing keeps overtaking my top spot.

Thankfully, he was indeed elected. |
I guess my point is answering questions may be important but it's not THE only criterion to get elected. ;) |
Ok I'm in - aka, running for TB. Will send in the app before deadline (ie, before I leave for Starmegado2). Presuming it's accepted I'm officially in.
Cheers. |
How do we know if our application was accepted?
|
Well I'm assuming they all will be, but I figure when Randy announces the candidates we'll know for sure :D
Cheers. |

Unless there are others who have signed up I'll be candidate #18, but will be cutting it close to the wire to send in application. At SMD2 start, so will do it when I return tonight or early am, since NYC is a couple hours ahead of 8am Mountain Time.
Cheers. |
Randy, was the application for mountain time or east coast time?
I thought the form when I checked it was mountain time. It's now 8am east coast & I went to fill out the form, & got an error code. I would have set the alarm an hour earlier if I thought it was east coast time. I only decided in last couple of days to run, & was swamped w/ work & now start of SMD2, and actually was thinking of my answers for a couple of the questions. Realize it's my fault for cutting it close to the wire, but did think I still had a few hours. So if it's mountain time, I'd still like to get my application in. If it's east coast time, then guess I won't be running this year & will wait until next year. Let me know. Thx. Cheers. |
BTW - this is the message I get, whether I try Randy's link or Pat89339's link:

It was Mountain time and based upon your note, I went and checked it myself and now I'm a candidate (!). All seemed to work perfect and no one else has reported any problems as of yet. So we may have to do a manual update, and just substitute you for me.
Sorry for any inconvenience.
