a couple recent occurrences reminded me of this thread:
1. returned from a vacation, having emptied fridge beforehand, to a couple nice snowfalls (& another on the way). Looking around apartment, most of my snack food is from airport lounges & planes or purchased for travel, lol. (Spring onion crackers from HKG are quite nice.) 2. went to ATM yday & noted sequence of my cards (roughly) in terms of use: ID, credit card (cashback), frequent flyer card, airport lounge card, THEN bank card, tho car rental or supermarket cards often jump ahead but not lately due to snow-clogged streets. |
... you're perplexed why your cousin won't do ORD-DTW-CLE-IAH instead of ORD-IAH to maximize segments.
... you refer to the number of miles you've actually flown as BIS. |
You see some online video with an "ORF" logo in one corner, and your first thought is, "This video obviously came from Norfolk, Virginia -- why is it in German?"
(The ORF that's not an airport) |
You get a call from United that your BOS-LHR flights to this weekend's FT Do were cancelled because of the snowstorm all up and down the east coast, they offer to rebook you via Chicago and apologize for the indirect routing, and you say "That's not a problem, go ahead!"
(The bad news, since that was a real scenario earlier this evening, is that the ORD-LHR flight was cancelled too. I'm back to BOS-IAD-LHR, but 11 hours later. However, the thought of the extra miles was nice while it lasted.) |
Happened to me this weekend -- had second mechanical delay on same plane 2 weeks apart on different route (sadly, I keep track of this stuff).

When you are in an airport lounge talking a little too loudly in order to make sure that other people in the lounge hear you and are impressed with your knowledge. That's how I tell you are a Flyertalker. And I move to the other side of the room. ;)
