...when you stop traveling for a few weeks, then resume, and an airport bartender in a far-off city notices and asks you where the h*ll you've been...

When every Thursday morning there are empty coin boxes from the US Mint in the trash in front of your house.

when...

-you do three DCA-SFO mileage runs in a row, meaning three red-eyes in a row, and just for fun you make sure you hit ATL, JFK, and DTW hubs...

-you actually turn DOWN offers of free airline stuff (mugs, etc) because you have service for 12 at home already!

-you visit your best friend's retired parents and they show you the collage they made of all the random postcards you've sent them and insist you visit certain cities to make their collection complete

-when you are on the phone to family and they try to guess which airport you are in from overhearing the announcements...."Detroit is in the eastern time zone..."
:D

Is that directed at me? :o (I said "Sorry!")

When you know cabin seating configurations better than some airline reservations staff.

No....more that despite my best efforts I could never get anyone from DTW or DL/NW to send me an MP3 of the announcement...One day I am going to schedule a long layover and harass every DTW worker until I get the name of someone who can get me that recording...

OR find a speaker and just get a digital recorder right next to it to try to get the cleanest recording possible...

:D

Hmm...maybe THAT is how you know you're a FT'er...

And yes my bag showed up at ORD and then made the connecting flight.

*MTS: had to look that up, didn't you! (said with some amount of pride)

LOL - you know you're an FTer when YOU DONT check a bag for that routing :D ;)! What were you thinking?? :p.

Dont worry, I check a bag SYD-LAX-HNL-SFO-SYD on my 3 week vaca - anything shorter and its on board with me :D. But the FTer in me, got me a brand new suitcase from UA HNL after they damaged mine enroute :D. Some tell me its my accent that does it..what accent? :p

Yes. That is so me.

...when you successfully use the terms direct, nonstop, and connection correctly in conversation.
...when you do a mileage run to spend a couple hours with a friend on their birthday on the opposite coast.

Sadly no I didn't have to look that up. It's on my list of places to go for my next *A RTW trip.

Another one from last week.

After attending the launch of the Air NZ new longhaul product as a blogger, accepting further invite (as elite FF) the next day so I could take another look & try, and another chance to ask some more questions.

Or when your friend complains about having a layover in another airport & you decide to do a MR to keep them company!

When you keep trying to use airport codes and FT and airline acronyms in online Scrabble game with FB friends. "systemwide" is not a valid word, BTW.

I initially found FT when seeking advice about a forthcoming trip to see my daughter.

I got an email through today from the Law Society mentioning TSA (The Securities Administration) and sat at my desk wondering what the h** the TSA at the US airports had to do with the English Law Society until it clicked it was The Securities Administration!

Great thread!
