Got the same copy and paste reply from Taylor just now.
Apparently he was not able to locate the rate, despite me sending screenshots. He didn't share with me what rate he was able to find, but has assured me it was more than I paid booking with Choice Hotels. The cheaper rate was on booking.com, I just checked it again, and it's still there. As others have reported earlier Choice BRG is a joke. I have had some good experiences before with BRG with Hilton, SPG and Shangri-La, obviously few were declined, but they were from really obscure websites, and I was always given an explanation of exactly why it was declined. Here I have ~10% cheaper rate through booking.com, and all I got is copy and paste reply from Taylor. |
I'm sorry to hear that there are more cases of this BRG not working in our favor :(
I hoped that after my experience, others would be more wary of this BRG claim & steer clear The main lesson to be learnt here is that if you see the rate lower on another website, go ahead & book that and forget about the BRG! The price fluctuates even on the hotel's own website, and I checked a booking for Nov. in the SEA-TAC area and it's now the same price as the competing 3rd party OTA (about $13 less than what I paid) There is no incentive to book direct nor to book early when it comes to (not my) Choice hotels! :td: |

There's no reason why booking early should be the cheapest option from a hotel's standpoint. Similarly how airlines often charge a lot for tickets a year in advance - plenty of time to fill the seats, but if somebody really wants to book it early, let them have it. |
"The rate found in our research has a different cancellation policy than you have reserved. It requires guests to cancel the reservation until 3:00 PM, August 15, 2021, while the reservation you made with Choice Hotels is cancellable up to August 15, 2021 4:00 PM local hotel time ."
Everything was same and booking is 3 month down the line and they deny because of 1 hour cancellation policy. My claim got denied because of one hour difference in cancellation policy. I am a Hilton fan but was going to try couple of choice hotel in next trip. Now i am planning to cancel all that. I might stick this one but definitely book at cheaper site. Really disappointing. |

My claim denied because competing offer have longer time for free cancelation. I think next time I will book at cheaper website, in addition to a slightly longer cancellation time. |

I had a claim denied because Choice "couldn't locate the rate". Was asked by email to submit another claim with screenshots. I replied to that email with screenshots showing an even lower rate than I originally asked to match AND also submitted another claim as asked, which was of course denied for being outside of 24 hrs from the original reservation. Keep in mind it took Choice like 10-12 hours to process my original claim and I'm not sitting at my computer all day to take screenshots and send to them. And the lower rate is on the same OTA as my original claim which "they couldn't locate".
What is the point of these policies if you keep trying to get out of them? |

After you send Choice all your details over PM, they will just say they are the Social Media team and can't do anything about BRGs. They will also give you a number for the BRG team 866.633.4100 which does NOT work. I have now submitted my claim twice showing multiple screenshots and URLs (their web form doesn't take 90% of the URLs I give it) and it's been denied everytime for asinine reasons. And then if you give them more information when they ask for it (after taking 2 days to get back to you), they say it's been >24 hrs since the original reservation so the claim is now invalid. Even if you preemptively email them the additional information. Bottom line - Choice sucks and makes the BRG process an impossibility compared to other chains. Do NOT waste your time PMing their social media team on FT. |

BRG rejected as hotel considered an "all-inclusive" property
Hi,
I just had a Lowest Price Guarantee request rejected on the basis that the hotel is an "all-inclusive Ascend Hotel Collection" property. I made the request for regular hotel, which is clearly not an all-inclusive resort but agent is not answering any emails. Any way to escalate this? |
Hello, there. It's hard to imagine your frustration regarding this, mainly because you have not received adequate assistance. After reviewing, we noticed you have reached out to us privately, and we have already responded. Thank you for sharing this situation with us. Kindly regards, -Mei
