Newsletter - Fall 2009
We would like to tell you what we learned from the past three studies and what we are doing to implement your feedback.
Communications Study
Your Feedback: The top types of sweepstakes were Choice Privileges points, money and vacation sweepstakes.
Our Initiatives: In the Fall we offered the Clarion Million Dollar Giveaway Sweepstakes. Keep an eye open for a special sweepstakes coming up this Winter, which will offer you a Hawaiian getaway.
Your Feedback: The content most important to you in our e-newsletters are promotions, hotel rate offers, account updates and redemption discounts.
Our Initiatives: We now have a Hotel Deals page, where you can find great package deals, bonus point packages and more. Visit choicehotels.com/hoteldeals to check them out.
Due to the high demand for redemption sales, we now have redemption offers each month, and many of them are for Elite members only.
We will also have a national promotion for Choice Privileges members this Winter. Keep an eye out for it in our December e-newsletter!
Elite Benefits Study
Your Feedback: Most of you were interested in recognizing front desk staff with point vouchers for receiving Elite recognition.
Our Initiatives: In 2010 Elite Platinum and Diamond members will receive point vouchers in their Elite kit to award front desk staff for Elite recognition.

Your Feedback: Many of you suggested that you would like your reward nights at Choice hotels counted toward your Elite status qualification.
Our Initiatives: For 2010 we are implementing this benefit, so your reward night stays will count toward your Elite status qualification.
Your Feedback: You preferred to keep the number of nights spent in a given year as the only requirement to qualify for Elite status.
Our Initiatives: We are keeping number of nights stayed as the qualifier to gain Elite status; rather than adding a spending threshold as a qualifier.

Mobile Device Study
Your Feedback: You indicated that you access the Choice Hotels website frequently through your laptop or mobile device, mostly to locate and search for hotels, to make reservations and to log into your Choice Privileges account.
Our Initiative: We are currently working on a redesign to make our website even more user-friendly and interactive for you. Keep an eye out for the big launch in beginning of 2010!
Your Feedback: So far, you have not had much experience with social media channels.
Our Initative: We have started started posting updates on Twitter at twitter.com/ChoiceHotels and we will have further initiatives in 2010, so you can retrieve news and promotions about us whenever you want.

They ought to be announcing this winter promo a lot sooner than early December. I've already made a few holiday bookings with IHG properties instead of Choice because I expect the winter Choice promo to be lackluster. If they give us something better than "stay 3 consecutive nights, earn 8,000 points," then I may change my mind.
