Shanghai Hotels

Any recommendations for a major chain hotel in PVG? I'm an elite with Hilton, Marriott, IC and SPG so hopefully would get some comps from all or most of them,

Will be there 3 nights in mid September and have never been to the City, let alone China before.

Looking forward to seeing a few sites and some English-speaking night life.

Thanks.

To give you a quick answer, my preference goes to Shangri-la. However, if you want to stick with one of your program's hotels i would go with the Westin.

You will certainly be happy with either Le Royal Meridien or the Westin. The Meridien is an SPG-cat 4 and the Westin is an SPG-cat 5. They are equally luxurious, and equally well located. I have much less knowledge about the non-SPG hotels on your list, but I have heard good things about the Hilton, which is also well located in the French Concession area, and might be significantly less expensive than the others. Most of the Shanghai Marriott/Renaissance properties, other than the JW Marriott, are not so well located, unless you have reason to need to be in Pudong.

As I said previously, we loved the Royal Meridien. Hotel is new, design is stunning and very contemporary and location is excellent. Being on the Club Floor was wonderful....breakfast, evening cocktails, etc and very good conceirge services. I'd return there in a heartbeat!
