The new visa will cancel out whatever's left on the existing. So if these two trips are close enough in timing that you cannot get a new visa between the trips, therefore using up the second entry on the existing visa, then you'll need to get a new double-entry visa right now, and just forego what's left on your existing as it will be cancelled. The Chinese visa office may query why you're doing this, in which case you just explain. If you are resident in Malaysia, then I should think that all you need to get any new Chinese visa between the two trips would be 3-4 business days, maybe next-day service if they offer rush processing. If you are not resident but temporarily staying in KL, should still be possible to get a new visa quickly, if you are trying for a business visa and have the requisite letter of invite from a Chinese company. So if "back to back" trips means about a week-ish apart between return from the first and departure for the second, you should have time to return from first, get a rush new visa, then travel the second time.

The only other possible option, if at least one of those PVG stops is very short, you're staying in greater Shanghai, and your passport qualifies, is to amend one of the return flights so you go KUL- PVG-another country (like SIN or HKG) - KUL. Thereby conforming to Transit Without Visa rules for one of the trips, and using your remaining visa entry for the other. More info on TWOV in the other forum sticky. Obviously this won't work if your situation can't conform to the TWOV regulations.

Thanks! I will get a new visa as my trips are back to back same plane turnarounds (BKk-kul-pvg-kul-bkk/bkk-kul-pvg-kul-bkk) over a weekend. I have dabbled with the refundable twov- but possibly just not worth the stress.

Ah, something like a mileage run. Yes, only option is to get a new visa, now.

Why not nest PVG-BKK-PVG (nonstop) in the middle? This would save you some flying time and permit visa free transit.

Too late for that..but a good idea for next round!

Will fly Yangon - Kunming - Chengdu - International with CA416. There is a 1.5 hour (technical) stop in Kunming and a 6.5 hours stop in Chengdu. Want to leave the airport in Chengdu for a couple of hours, but where do I have to pass immigration, Kunming or Chengdu?

You'll enter china in Kunming. There is nothing technical about the stop there.

Will 1.5 hours be enough? I guess boarding will start 30 minutes before departure and we need some minutes to get off the first plane, so there are only 45 minutes or so left for immigration.
If it's not a technical stop like the OTA named it, what is it then? There is only one flight number (CA416) all the way from Yangon to Chengdu. If the second leg would be a regular flight why it doesnt have a own flight number?

The same airplane should operate both segments, and it won't take you as long to get your passport stamped and get back to the gate as it does to prepare the plane for kmg-ctu even if the inbound is late and they're trying to make up time.

By retaining a single flight number, ca can market it as a direct service. In China, this also permits through checking of luggage, which usually isn't possible when connecting between international and domestic on separate flight numbers.

Looks like they also sell these two segments separate, no problem to buy just Yangon Kunming or Kunming Chengdu. Both have still the same flight number CA416.
Never had passport control done in Kunming, but good to know that is will not take as long as in Beijing or other large airports.

Do you know of any flights operated by Chinese carriers where this is not the case?

Help needed!

I did all the research and thought I was all set to get my visa. I filled out the applications (for 2 of us) online and then saved the files to print. The problem is on one, even though the birthday is entered correctly on the original fillable form, it looks like just the year and zeros (ex 1960-00-00) when the persons dob is actually 1960-05-02. If I go into the original form, it says the wrong info, but then when I click on it, on the original form, the correct information is in there. As soon as I move to another field, it defaults back to the incorrect date.

The same issue happens when I try to list the number of days I will be in the country. I enter the correct number, but once I go to the next line, it defaults back to 0. I have tried using tab to the next line as well as enter, and it still does the same thing.

Does anyone have any ideas? I know they are picky about how to form is filled out and it can't be hand written (or I would leave blank and just write in these 2 areas).

I have only one more option of times/places to print the forms before I have to turn them in at the consulate, which is coming up very soon! Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I am hoping someone else has run into this issue and has an idea for a solution. I tried to modify the pdf file that was saved, but it won't let me.

Thanks for any help!

I usually use acrobat pro to fill out those forms...gives you much more control. If you don't have acrobat pro, you are welcome to email me the link to the form and I'll try to make it workable.

Thanks for the offer. This is the application I am trying to get to work. http://www.china-embassy.org/chn/lsz...1570742708.pdf

I am getting on an international flight soon, but any help with making the form work would be greatly appreciated!
