Ok great so that's a mall between exit A and Ren. Good to known. Google maps has the hotel about 3 blocks to the east. Thanks for your assistance.
(The above thread would have been more aptly titled "Google Maps is almost completely useless in China", and it that was 5 years ago.) The hotel, mall, and Exit A are all just inside (i.e. west of) 3rd Ring along a near perfect north/south axis. |
Last question..
Any recommendations for the Park Plaza Beijing Wangfujing? This is compared to Renaissance Beijing Capital.
Thanks |

As intimated previously, it's hard (perhaps even unfair) to compare the CBD with downtown. But, I suppose I'd say the Ren might be a slightly better hotel than the Park Plaza. Location wise, I marginally prefer jinbao jie (Park Plaza) to wangfujing itself, and Line 5 might be kind of useful for you (to get to/from points north).

HI all, we have just one night and half day in Beijing. Arriving 10pm, prob back to airport at noon next day.
Can someone please recommend a hotel or neighborhood that won't be too hard to get to from airport, and would offer a few hours of easy sightseeing in the morning? Trying to organize the time there to see some sights, etc. |

For a short stay, I'd choose the Wangfujing area. There're plenty of hotels in the area, depending on your budget. The two Mandarin Orientals in the area are among the best, but they're expensive (for a hotel in China). I also like the Peninsula (older but still great and less expensive) and the Regent (very reasonably priced). However, a trip from/to PEK or PKX will take time, because of unpredictable Beijing traffic.
