The app is the same, and I believe it will completely replace the paper forms, but if you chance upon a paper form, there are separate arrival and departure sections.

The app is for a health declaration. Nothing to do with the immigration forms which still need to be filled in by foreigners.

This is correct. The same mini-app is used to do the health declarations for entry and exit. The paper immigration form is required on entry. It's been redesigned and there is no longer an exit form.
BTW, any relation between Moondog and Largedog? |

I can confirm that there is no longer an exit form, having exited a couple of weeks ago.
I remember once I exited to Hong Kong after having entered at West Kowloon. There were no exit forms since they had all been detached from the entry form. At Futian checkpoint, there weren't any forms at all upon exiting, at least none visible. Luckily I had an extra with me. |

I was recommended (without asking) to put down as unemployed so they can finish up the form and go on their merry way home.:)

AFAIK the only remaining item left is the health form for entry/exit right?
Would be good to add that link as a wikipost. And if/when that gets removed (I don't remember the status), we can close this thread, right? |

China’s always modifying their entry policy even before Covid. I suggest leaving this thread open as I’m sure there will be changes going forward.

Most of us use the app or the miniprogram. If any checkpoints are still accepting the form, that's news to me, but if so, they would certainly have them on hand because it's such a rare bird these days.
What doesn't generally work -- natch -- is the crowd control when one wants to scan said form. |

I once asked the supervisor friend that work in Customs: don't you guys get all that information when you scan our passports (including job and reason for visit, THEY KNOW), and he smiled and said yes. So I say WHY THE F would you still torment me in filling out those forms (I have 6 children, we go in and out of China frequently), and he smiled and said "I don't know, we throw away those forms as soon as we collect them, but someone upstairs still insists on them"
If you look up the immigration cases on austlii.edu.au you'll find lots of cases where information from immigration cards were used as supporting evidence to show that a visa (or citizenship) applicant was dishonest in subsequent applications. |

Entry Forms valid for 24hrs?
Know you have to do the Antigen test within 48 hours of boarding and then you need to complete the Health Declaration form, can you also do this 48 hours before?
Just checking in with BA and it mentions that the health declaration QR code is only valid for 24 hours, which means I should apply until 24 hours before flight."All passengers, fully vaccinated and not fully vaccinated, have to present an “Exit/Entry Health Declaration Form” and present a QR code before departure. The form can be obtained at ChinaPort website or from the WeChat app, this form is only valid for 24 hours. Passengers may refresh the ChinaPort website in case of experiencing issues loading it." Doesn't sound right to me |

Doesn't sound right to me https://www.flyertalk.com/forum/35448170-post22.html I don't know exactly how long the QR codes remain active. The official guidance is that you shouldn't declare until within 48 hours of your flight, but maybe that's too long if your flight is really long. I usually submit mine when I'm waiting to board my final segment to China; by then, I typically know my seat number, which is a required field. If the code expires before you get a chance to scan it, just generate a new one. There is no way for anyone to verify exactly when you did your antigen test. You are simply declaring that you self tested during the 48 hours leading up to your flight. |
Thanks for this just read your post.
I wondering is it supposed to be valid by the time you arrive or by the time you board? If its by the time you arrive I'll have little chance and if its by the time you board I'll probably do it tomorrow morning as it looks like i need to upload the code to the BA website Also one further question, If I'm doing this for my family (4 people) does the wechat app allow you to do this for multiple people? as my kids won't have a wechat account? Thanks |

Thanks From what I can tell, you can only use the WeChat MP for yourself, but you could use the native apps or website for your kids. The website is a little more user friendly than the native apps, especially if your Chinese reading ability isn't strong, but the apps are better for regenerating codes. If you use the website to create codes and they expire, the kiosks are probably the easiest way to make new ones. |
It's time-stamped and expires 24 hours after it was created. So it needs to still be alive when it's scanned after arrival. But if it has expired due to flight delay, etc no big deal. Just get a new QR code at the airport.
Remember you need a QR code on departure, too. |
You can fill out the health declaration for family members in your own Wechat app. It's not linked to the Wechat account owner. Just take a screenshot of each QR code as it's generated.
You can alternatively use the web-based form here if you don't want to use Wechat. |

Is there a way to do this without overwriting your own profile? I realize that you can presumably retrieve your record without much effort, but if you don't tinker with things, the update process takes less than 30 seconds.

Yes, you can view, edit or resubmit all of your previous submissions for multiple travellers.

It's best to fill out the WeChat digital health form (and get a QR code) ahead of time. So you bypass all those that haven't and go through customs quickly. Don't bother with edit, if anything changes just fill out a new one and generate a new QR code. Also, don't do it too early, do it when you're waiting for your flight. Just in case there's no delay of flight that made your QR code "expire" upon landing.
I wish China also has a website where you can digitally fill out the custom form online. Taiwan has that and it's so good to be able to do that, especially when you're traveling with big family. When we were in Taiwan the agent asked us "forms or online"? I told him we did it online and he escorted us to empty kiosks that was reserved for Taiwanese. Other Americans behind me wanted to follow through, same question, and when they show them their hand-filled form, the agent told them to stay in foreigner's line.... |

Well, that site (obviously) has a Chinese ICP license. Sometimes, those are fickle about IP addresses, but I have accessed it from outside of China in the past. I have no problems pulling it up from here (Shanghai):

You gotta open the main webpage instead of the health declaration directly: https://htdecl.chinaport.gov.cn/

Interesting SH arrival on UA-857 tonight. (Sunday 9-18) Flew from Chicago to SFO on UA, could not check baggage or get boarding pass to SFO from ORD until QR code done, according to UA supervisor.
So got the QR over at the Ohare Hilton (good wifi there) and went back to check in at UA. The QR code expired before i went into SH, but that did not matter, as they only care about the QR code. This day had about 1000+ foreigner's at 5:00 hub time, lots of diversity. About a 2 hour wait on this Sunday at SH passport control, totally understaffed! Also on the new 2-sided entry card, they really read the details, and scan it into the computer with your passport /visa information. I'm in SH for a week adjusting to jet lag before going to BJ for the Golden week holiday season, might go to Beidaihe after golden week to play some fall golf. |

I was compelled to generate a new QR code the one time mine expired en route. Doing so was a (very) minor annoyance. Your point about airlines potentially caring about health codes is spot on though; I suppose it makes sense for people that haven't already done so to at least populate the basic fields before leaving home. Welcome to SH, btw!
I'l do a post in a couple weeks after visiting with friends in a few cities. First challenge is getting we-chat on my 4 devices!. |
China made it "easier" to apply for a visa, some notable changes:
1) Just need to provide your highest level of education (prior it was all of your education) 2) Just need to provide your current and prior employment (prior it was ALL employments with supervisor name and contact information) And other minor changes. Enjoy. |
