I'm starting this thread in order to give people a chance to relieve their frustrations.

The drill is, tell us about:

1) your plight (i.e. how does it feel hanging out in that 737 for 2 hours on the tarmac)

2) Flight number

3) Weather issues

I'm not so interested in "compensation" because that's usually not going to happen, and when it does, your time is almost surely worth more than whatever you will receive in return.

No such things as delays in the harmonious society.

Air China likes to welcome you on board for one hour quiet reflection and meditation on apron at this time.

when do they give you bian dang at the gate? That's my favorite part. I was delayed 2 hours once at SZX and got dinner. Then I was served another meal on my 2 hour flight. The fact that we never get food on any US flights anymore just made me extremely happy.

I've only ever seen that term used in Taiwan.

Nevertheless, I had a delayed flight with SC (Shandong Airlines), between Lanzhou and Urumqi. There was a weather issue in Jinan (where the flight originated), and staff had no idea when the flight was going to get to Lanzhou.

Had I not known Chinese, I wouldn't have known about the biandang or the hotel rooms they provided.

1) The small airplane in the center of the picture is a very old Russian fighter. It, along with other airplanes of the same breed, effectively shut down Nanning's airport for 2.5 hours on the date of my flight. I was in contact with TravelinmanS via WeChat at the time, who provided me updates through the app that he likes (Very Zhun)... we were "#2 for takeoff" throughout the course of the 2.5 hour airport shutdown. I wasn't really bothered by the delay because I've come to accept the fact that NNG-SHA is almost always a 6 hour ordeal.

2) Flight number = HO1172. I usually take the 630p MU flight, which occasionally awards me with a tiny number of FF points, but I decided to mix things up based on the theory that HO couldn't possibly be worse than MU. In fact, it wasn't worse than MU, but it wasn't better either (they codeshare with MU).

3) The weather was fine in both Nanning and Shanghai on my travel date.
