The 28 minute taxi ride is quite impressive, and helps defeat the myth that the Maglev is faster for people staying in Lujiazui.

Reverse order from Changping Lu Station (line 7).

905 Start looking for cab
907 Hop in Cab
936 Arrive at Longyang
944 Maglev takes off
952 Arrive at PVG
958 Get BP
1006 Clear security

Not sure whether my question belongs here or in a new thread. I tried searching and could not find any answers. I need to travel from PVG to a B & B located off Nanchang Road. Flight lands shortly after 2PM. I prefer not to take a cab from the airport. (I'm cheap and would rather spend my money elsewhere.) The B&B suggests two options: #1-- Maglev to Subway line 2 to subway line 1 and get off at Huang Pi South Station or #2--shuttle bus to downtown and then a cab.

Questions: 1. How difficult is it to change from line 2 to line 1, considering that it may be rush hour? 2. Should I consider taking subway line 2 the entire way from the airport rather than the Maglev to the subway? 3. Is the airport shuttle bus to downtown, Shuttle bus #2? 4. How difficult is it for a jet-lagged traveller who speaks no Chinese to purchase the various tickets? 5. Any thoughts or advice? I travel relatively light, i.e. a knapsack and a 21" rolling bag.

Even when it's not rush hour, that's a horrible transfer (I've been pickpocketed 3 times during my life, all in Peoples Square Stn).

Go with the #2 bus.

New Record! 65 Minutes Touchdown PVG to Front Door

PVG to Lujiazui
(Oct. 30, 2010)

16.28 Touchdown PVG
16.40 Disembark (T2 Int'l - second off plane, favorable gate, speed walk to immigration)

16.50 Get in Taxi (T2 line)
17.33 Arrive Lujiazui - 144 RMB, 40.9 km, route: A1-A20-Luoshan Road, Zhangyang

New record, though it could have been even quicker had the cab driver taken the Pumin road route.

Moondog--Thanks for the advice. It's the #2 bus and cab ride for me!

12 minutes from airplane to taxi is quite impressive. Domestic? Also, where did you go end up?

No it was international, though admittedly on JL and therefore in the less crowded T1. Other factors contributing to this include an ABTC card, seated in the first row, and no checked bags. One of those 12 minutes was actually spent waiting for a taxi to arrive because they only had three in the cab rank.

My destination was Dapuqiao pretty close to where Airport bus #3 stops at.

I think I set a new record for me today:

1256 Plane reaches gate
1258 Get off plane
1312 Board Maglev
1316 Maglev takes off
1326 Get off Maglev
1326 Hop in cab at LongYang Station
1346 Cab arrives in Jing'An - Changping Rd Station Line 7

I could have shaved about 4 min off if the Maglev was operating at full speed, only was going 300 KPH when I rode it.

Yeah I've found that the Maglev+cab option is as fast as just taking a cab and way cheaper.

You guys haven't lived until you've experienced the #2 bus.
