ID Check at Gate
Today while I was waiting for my flight out of CLT I noticed a lot of TSOs hovering around the end of the B concourse. Then when they started boarding the flight to MCO they said that ALL pax would need to show their BP and ID to board. TSA was checking IDs.
Obviously international flights require document checks done before boarding, but that is usually airport personnel. This was a domestic flight and TSOs checking. Have I just never seen this all these years, or is this a new "layer"? I was just glad it wasn't my flight. This + the traffic check point I went through over the weekend would really make me start to doubt anything will change under BHO. |
Sounds like make work for TSO's that would otherwise be doing nothing. Total waste that did nothing to enhance security. :td:

A new low. :td:

There were 5 guys hovering around the gate. I think just 1 or 2 were actually checking IDs.
It didn't look like they got The Big Catch either. If only our more vocal forum members could have been there. |
Seems pretty pointless.

I have not heard of this. Just another waste of tax payers money & harassment:td:

I've seen this before at SJU with CBP, but never TSA

"Papers, please!!"
 This is great. Now they have a second chance to compare the name on my ID to the name on my BP without ever looking up at my face. I mean, everyone knows the 9/11 hijackers were on mismatching IDs and BPs and didn't have valid visas, right? Right??? times infinity. peace, ~Ben~ |

What if somebody refused to show their ID/BP? They have already gotten through the checkpoint, so I believe TSA needs proable cause to search them at the gate...or at least ask for ID. Therefore, wouldn't TSA would be performing an illegal act by "forcing" people to show ID's?

No, TSA can demand to see your ID as many times as it wants inside the sterile area. You can be searched repeatedly as well.
