Im a bit curious where the line went if it was a mile long (or so they say).
Its a hell of a place. Haven't flown out of there for a bit though. Im going to look for pictures... Some pictures (yup its pretty long): https://pbs.twimg.com/media/B3skS_eIQAEn5xD.jpg https://pbs.twimg.com/media/B3saTu0IEAAS-i-.jpg I like this quote: "The line for TSA at Midway airport leaves the terminal, goes to city train stop, turns around and goes back in. " In case nobody knows where that is, that is the pathway to the CTA Orange line. You can see the CTA signs overhead. |
Next time they should queue people at the Pulaski stop! :-)

Does Midway have TSA pre check? Wonder how long the pre check line was if they had it.

Yes, NBC news did a story on this tonight. A woman interviewed was in Precheck line for an hour.
my personal record was 1 hour 47 minutes in the US citizen lane. 2nd longest was 1 hour 20 minutes, eight months earlier. (time between getting off the plane and putting my passport on the counter for the CBP agent) |

I would add this pathway itself is long. The walk from train platform to security check is 5-10 minutes.

Also, the TSA admitted it was their fault; they didn't plan properly.
wow, I'm about as shocked as Captain Renault. |
My guess is that everyone would have been through security more quickly if the TSA had just decided not to send anyone through the body scanners and to just use the metal detectors.

What time does TSA open up the checkpoint. I would open it up at least 2 hours earlier then normal. Also do they bring in extra help. Sometimes you will see a backup at ticket ID check where as the screening is not that bad.
I have seen that problem at many airports. |

Special combination from hell - a nightmare of a tiny airport served by Southwest which is heavily favored by leisure travelers. Inexperienced flyers flooding security checkpoint in hordes. Lord have mercy!
|
In addition, the security lines go across a bridge over Cicero Avenue, a very busy thoroughfare. There are signs on Cicero warning drivers to not stop under the bridge. The real security risk, if there is one, is from the street, not from the passengers.
