TSA Says Pistol Decoration on Purse is “Offensive” to Travelers
By now we should all know that guns + the TSA don't mix and therefore firearms of all kinds are best left at home.
The TSA has both blogged about and shared Instagram pictures of the weapons that they have confiscated. The long list has included such questionable items as a sock puppet's pistol and photographer's blower. Earlier this week, a passenger was preparing to go through an airport security check point when she was approached by a TSA agent who had noticed her purse and thought it may be a bit questionable. It wasn't confiscated, but the traveler was asked to keep her purse in her bag so that it wouldn't offend other travelers. http://i.imgur.com/6NnUlfS.jpg Do you feel that it is a security concern? Is it that offensive? Should it have received any attention from the TSA? http://misguidedchildren.com/domesti...ravelers/19427 |

The TSA is the really offensive entity at the checkpoint. Bill Miller's comment is spot-on, though the reaction to this article in general is refreshing. |
NOSs and checkpoint gropes offend me.

My response would be to GFYS.

TSA's mission is not to be the Last Line of Defense against offensive eyeball assault images. If they were, many sleazoid popular entertainers would never get past the checkpoint.

Not my taste, a bit tacky, but TSA is not in the fashion business and shouldn't have gotten involved. Basically none of their business.

If she had put it in her bag could it not have been deemed artfully concealed?

Now what if the was wearing a t-shirt with a picture of a gun and the words "from my cold dead hands" underneath the picture? |
TSA, always looking for the big guns:

I don't know if they were forcing her to hide her purse, but if they were, sounds like a heck of a First Amendment violation to me.

That's funny, I didn't know that TSA's charter mentioned the words "offensive expressions police" or something similar.
Maybe I haven't read up on the agency's background enough. |
