Not necessarily, High Heels of Mass Destruction are found in many locations worldwide, and have been the downfall of many.

If you're done snarking, how about addressing the handheld metal detectors issue? Surely ignoring legitimate questions over at the TSA blog doesn't take up all of your time.

Maybe you should lighten up a bit? I thought his comment was pretty funny. I've seen many high-heel-wearing downfalls myself!

Ok, here you go:

HHMDs are not part of the normal clearing procedures as of this time... but you already knew that, so I had nothing substantive to add to the information stream, therefore, I jumped in with a touch of humor, which is a normal thing for me.

Well, no, we DON'T know that, since there are multiple reports of their usage along with at least one photo of one at a checkpoint. So why don't you scurry off and find out what's going on and come back when you have something worthwhile to share, m'kay?

I gave you the answer that I have, which is "no, HHMDs are not part of the normal clearing procedures". If a change is posted on any of the TSA pages or by TSA media outlets, I will be certain to post it here for you. Until such time, you have the answer to your original question.

I don't scurry anymore, I tend to meander and observe all around me, life is much more fun that way - it is also much more informative.:)

Are you claiming the reports from multiple airports are erroneous, then?

I think what he's saying is there hasn't been an across the board change in published policy.

If only he were capable of giving a straight answer to direct questions.

Well, he did by saying that they weren't part of normal clearing procedures at this time, so in that sense he provided you with a straight answer that had new information. Anecdotally, HHMDs appear to be making their way back into the mix recently, but until they're almost universal we don't know if/when they'll [once again] be a part of the SOP to clear a WTMD alarm.

So are you saying they are being used as clearing procedure in extra-normal cases?

I was thinking abnormal, but yours works.
