It's Woody This Time, Not Sock Monkey

Reach for the sky! Overzealous Heathrow security officials 'confiscate' Toy Story cowboy Woody DOLL'S miniature gun

Airports and airlines can use their discretion to remove any item being carried in hand luggage when they believe it may be perceived as a threat.
And the picture is classic:

Moral to the story: if you're carrying a Woody weapon or a sock puppet weapon, pop it in your mouth while going through screening.

Sure, smart guy, then what happens if it goes off in your mouth?

A question that will never be asked of me, but to each their own.

Doesn't that guy know you're not supposed to ever look down the barrel of a gun!? That's horribly dangerous! Very poor firearm safety.

Oh, wait... it's a freakin' 1" plastic toy that was confiscated.

I guess he's not so stupid after all. My bad.

Careful where you aim that thing!

Just what kind of woody are we talking about here? :)

TheRoadie Feb 11, 2014 11:27 am

An exceedingly small one that's being manipulated over a plastic bin by the intrepid agent, in case it goes off in his hand.

I'll just say that you can take an eye out with that thing and leave it at that ;)

What, no comment about the Secret Service wrestling the woody to the ground? ;)

No surprise here. I got my TSA-approved corkscrew confiscated at LHR. Also they removed my liquids bag and didn't replace it, which I didn't find out about until I reached my destination.

To add insult to injury we had to show proof of an onward ticket at immigration. First time I've had to show that in a long time.

To be fair, there is no reason why Heathrow security should care what TSA does or does not approve. Just imagine it the other way round!

(Not saying they should take it or not, just that the TSA's approval doesn't matter...)

Wonder when the picture was taken. Notice white vs. Police Blue sleeves.

I've never flown out of England, so I can't say what color sleeves they have, but since it's not the TSA, I guess they could be white.

Notice the title of the article, which mentions Heathrow. I think that's an airport. An English airport in England!
