Notice the title of the article, which mentions Heathrow. I think that's an airport. An English airport in England!

Remember that the dailymail is an 'overzealous' tabloid. Having said that, I cannot imagine a reasonable explanation for this.

What, no comment about the Secret Service wrestling the woody to the ground? ;)

Not gonna touch that one with a 10 inch pole ;)

Why so reluctant to come to grips with the situation, goalie?

I should have made the title: "Security grabs traveler's woody. Hopes there's no discharge."

You left out: "...tackles traveler's woody bare-handed.."

Security at LHR is awful..

I did a no-no and did not take out my iPad for screening.
I was sent to a queue of people waiting to have their bags opened for contraband items.

I was #6 in line. I waited for 1 hour because they were working at Turtle speed.

The guy literarily Aired my dirty laundry (and everybody elses') in front of everybody...
Took everything out of my bag, one piece at a time like he was pulling some magic trick.

Placed it all in the plastic bin and ran it through the x-ray machine again.

all at turtle speed

I hate when this happens. On the rare occasions that it does, I plop my 55+ YO carcass on the floor, lean up against something in my best possible "traveling college student" pose, and tell them to wake me up when they are done. (I do not go to sleep, I watch their every move, but I look to be resting.)

As for the gun, I have an empty 40 SW box in the back of my vehicle. My son and I blew through 100 rounds or so for Christmas and the box is still there. I wonder what kind of check point lock down that would generate?

I once knew someone who said in the past he'd smuggled jewels. He said he would put them in his dirty laundry because the agents avoided searching it. Perhaps that LHR guy wasn't so dumb after all.

On the other hand, I have no explanation for the slow-mo undies show.

If you pay close to minimum wage for such a job, and expect one to excel in it, of course you get substandard security screening.

He was probably pulling your leg and referring to his 'family jewels' being smuggled in his undies.

+1
LHR T5 is considered one of the best in the world  but its security IMHO is one of the worst and most harrassing in Europe.

The LHR security makes TSA look like saints - trust me I won't whine about TSA anymore after LHR!

(Not saying they should take it or not, just that the TSA's approval doesn't matter...)

We'll haraSSSSment/ISC selections when flying US airlines' flights out of LHR shows otherwise.

OK, fair point, but this is additional security, right?

I guess what I meant to say is that Heathrow security isn't going to be more lenient just because the TSA is in any particular instance.

I believe that Shrek said it best here.
