The surly agents clearly were engaging in a slowdown - making various snide remarks about how we better get used to this kind of treatment in the sequester.

Are the pre-security lanes run by the airlines, airports, or TSA? Any chance calling United or other airlines would help curb this non-traditional limiting of the priority lanes? This kind of passive-aggressive inflicting of inconvenience on travelers is what I fear most from the sequester. Must protect the bureaucracy...

And no one suspects fear mongering and/or intentional work slow downs to support Obama's agenda?

The absolute worst thing we can do is react. Our attitude should be "Oh, well," and just patiently muddle through. It only works if they think we care.

And file complaints with request that TSA malingerers be punished and/or TSA eradicated like the disease that it is.

Unless one is an AFS zealot who actually likes the TSA or has bought into the PreCheck extortion, most of us have done all we can do already: stopped or cut back on flying, driving or VTC, opting out, threatening clerks with the most lethal weapon known to the TSA: the video camera, etc. There aren't many of us left who can react.

Pistole appears to be TSA's chief malingerer. Complaints to TSA will do nothing.

If anything step up the letters to your electeds particulary to local offices which may get more attention.

I'm confused. Why does TSA have a funding problem when they get all of the money from the plane ticket's security fee. Isn't that all of the money that the security companies got pre-911?

Agreed. However, complaints are tallied and stored, even if they're not acted on. Every little bit of ammunition helps in the effort to get this disgusting, un-American agency terminated.

I'm thinking the sequestration requirement is so insanely stupid that the fee part is ignored, and departmental spending just gets a flat rate cut. Every department, every program (unless specifically exempted), no intelligence is allowed to be brought to bear. It was supposed to be so stupid that it would FORCE a compromise to be negotiated. To say more would invite a transfer to OMNI-ville.

I get where you are going, but I am left wondering if the non-allocated funds parts of MWR programs in the military got cut also. BRB, gonna check.

Napolitano: Airport lines have nearly doubled since sequester

Wait times at Transportation Security Administration (TSA) checkpoints at major U.S. airports have already nearly doubled since sequestration was implemented, Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano said on Monday.

Napolitano said Monday that the $85 billion in across-the-board spending cuts that were officially enacted last Friday have already resulted in airport security lines that are "150 to 200 percent" longer than they normally are.

"Now that we are having to reduce or eliminate basically overtime both for TSA and for customs, now that we have instituted a hiring freeze … we will begin today sending out furlough notices,” Napolitano said at an event that was sponsored by Politico.

I just find it hard to believe that some lines are now double the length they were just a few days ago. Glad to have an Admiral's Club membership if this is going to keep up and I have to plan an earlier airport arrival.

Is Point Roberts that busy to begin with? Just curious given that it is just a small exclave (pop. 1300 or so) of Washington state and I can't imagine there's that much traffic.

No, absolutely no one suspects that. That would be deeply cynical, and completely contrary to our expectations, based on all recent observations of the US Federal governme...

Oh...

Well....

Hmm....

Hang in there. They'll probably be 300% longer just by tomorrow.
