Flew LH out of Tom Bradley terminal Saturday. It took over 1 hour to get through security. Theres a priority lane but they wouldn't allow star gold customers to use it (unless holding a business class or better ticket. The surly agents clearly were engaging in a slowdown - making various snide remarks about how we better get used to this kind of treatment in the sequester.

And no one suspects fear mongering and/or intentional work slow downs to support Obama's agenda?

The absolute worst thing we can do is react. Our attitude should be "Oh, well," and just patiently muddle through. It only works if they think we care.

And file complaints with request that TSA malingerers be punished and/or TSA eradicated like the disease that it is.
If anything step up the letters to your electeds particulary to local offices which may get more attention. |
I'm confused. Why does TSA have a funding problem when they get all of the money from the plane ticket's security fee. Isn't that all of the money that the security companies got pre-911?

Pistole appears to be TSA's chief malingerer. Complaints to TSA will do nothing.

I'm thinking the sequestration requirement is so insanely stupid that the fee part is ignored, and departmental spending just gets a flat rate cut. Every department, every program (unless specifically exempted), no intelligence is allowed to be brought to bear. It was supposed to be so stupid that it would FORCE a compromise to be negotiated. To say more would invite a transfer to OMNI-ville.

Napolitano: Airport lines have nearly doubled since sequester
Wait times at Transportation Security Administration (TSA) checkpoints at major U.S. airports have already nearly doubled since sequestration was implemented, Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano said on Monday. Napolitano said Monday that the $85 billion in across-the-board spending cuts that were officially enacted last Friday have already resulted in airport security lines that are "150 to 200 percent" longer than they normally are. "Now that we are having to reduce or eliminate basically overtime both for TSA and for customs, now that we have instituted a hiring freeze … we will begin today sending out furlough notices,” Napolitano said at an event that was sponsored by Politico. I just find it hard to believe that some lines are now double the length they were just a few days ago. Glad to have an Admiral's Club membership if this is going to keep up and I have to plan an earlier airport arrival. |

While it's not TSA, the border crossing into Point Roberts, WA was experiencing a slowdown in the NEXUS lane as the CBP agents were checking the trunks of every car going through.

Hang in there. They'll probably be 300% longer just by tomorrow.
