It seems that every tsa pizza-box photo posted on the interwebs was provided courtesy of the same Michelle Basch from the same radio station. I smell publicity stunt.

Besides the careful editing to avoid showing the pizza place's name, this must be the only pizza box ever that doesn't have an easily visible telephone number.

The phone # on the pizza box says it's out of service.

Well, here's a Sony Ericsson Mobile Communications pizza box for starters...

Were you hoping to stoke your x-ray fetish while getting government benefits? :p

As a sidenote, if TSA truly wanted to capitalize in their pursuit of the "pizza & x-ray vision" angle...they'd have a booth at this year's Comic-Con.

Now I know what happened to those weird guys in junior high that spoke to each other in Klingon. I bet they would love to run the Nude-O-Scope.

I know this is a bit persnicketty, but the pizza box displays "Washington Reagan National Airport," even though the correct title for DCA is "Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport." Wouldn't one expect a tight operation not to miss these kinds of details?

Is TSA a tight operation?

Well, I think we all know the answer - the text on the pizza box indicates a pedestrian lack of understanding of the subject matter, along the lines of "he kicked a touchdown" or "how do I get into Princeton Medical School?"

USA Today blogger, Ben Mutzabaugh, has picked up on this:

Order a pizza, become an airport security screener

Sigh...yet another "according to blahblahradio station" story. I was hoping there would at least be an independent verification or tsa statement by now. They're usually quick with excuses when it comes to media embarassments.

Finally found what I was looking for: http://www.wjla.com/news/stories/0710/755085.html

A joke is exactly what this is. Plenty of people getting their knickers in a twist about it though - how many of them even thought to do even the most basic fact checking?

This story (via WaPo) made it onto Fark.com.

If the TSA apologists think the bashing of the TSA here is absurd, you might want to read the comments on Fark to see what non-frequent fliers think of the TSA.

But even the comments in the Washington Post article are pretty funny:

Recruiting via a pizza box. How appropriate since the security measures performed by TSA are both cheesy and loaded with fat.
