@ drminn
Totally agree, and I'm a millennial. The removal of an email verification option was so unnecessary. |
The removal of email verification option is a hassle for me. Even more so when trying to get things done in-flight.

I also modified my email to be used for online security and did not get an option to verify through email. I wish people would post truthful material. |

I don't doubt that your procedure worked for you, and I'm happy for you, but it didn't work for me. My guess is that there is something different about your account or you omitted some necessary step. In either case, I disagree with your statement that I quoted (although the post to which you were responding was provocative).
I can post a screenshot of what I exactly I see when logging in If you like |

Oh no I just have a normal account and I was there for a good while messing with settings
I can post a screenshot of what I exactly I see when logging in If you like If you post a screenshot, I'll look at it, but I'm sticking with my assumption that there is something different between our accounts. Well, I'm sure there is something different between our accounts. I'm assuming it's not something that I can change or that you want to change. |

I didn't mean either of us had some sort of special account. (I don't.) I meant that some bit was flipped differently somewhere in the bowels of Chase's server, unbeknownst to you and me and probably Chase.

Do you have to do this EVERY time you login, or only when Chase's algorithm displays the prompt?

If you have an Android phone, you can use Google Messages web app which pairs with your phone via QR code. You can then receive SMS messages directly on your computer via web browser. Not sure if phone must be powered on and able to receive SMS text for this to work (I haven't tested it).

The email verification has been removed from our accounts several months ago, permanently. Before it was temporary and Chase reps confirmed it was an IT glitch that would get fixed. It was fixed after a week. Then a few months after that, this function is gone forever.
HOWEVER, if you ever use a device that has never got any update on its browser - once you have successfully used that device to log in, that device does not seem to EVER need a 2nd verification. This is the case with my iPad. So this is the life-saver when we are on a trip when cell phone is not working but iPad works on wifi. I tried the workaround mentioned above - never succeeded. The site while shows up the option to Use It, but when I chose that option, it displayed an error message, It looks like this part of our site isn't working right now. Please try again later. Thanks for your patience. So in our online accounts the email notification function seems to be permanently disabled. BTW after this screen I could not even toggle back to previous screen. The only way to get out without close off the window is to do a refresh. Then I am back to the previous screen. |
