We group similar merchant codes into categories for purposes of making rewards offers to you. Please note: We make every effort to include all relevant merchant codes in our rewards categories. However, even though a merchant or some of the items that it sells may appear to fit within a rewards category, the merchant may not have a merchant code in that category. When this occurs, purchases with that merchant won't qualify for rewards offers on purchases in that category. According to DoC, it also is available on Amex cards:

This is a nice gesture during the corona virus pandemic, since we aren't traveling to receive our points. However, with the Freedom card earnng 5 points per $ on groceries through June 30, I have to weigh what is more valuable, 5 UA Miles or 6 MR points. The UA miles win. Of course, during July, I could still do some grocery spend with my Marriott card for some extra Marriott points.

My grocery card is currently the Amex Everyday card. But I will shift a bit of spend to my Marriott card to bump my balance up to a level that lets me redeem an award night. I rarely stay at Marriotts in the Boyvoyed age and thus don’t acquire a lot of points anymore.

Yeah, right now I am not valuing Bonvoy points very highly although I do expect hotels to drop categories due to the demand changes.
I expect foreign grocery stores should count if coded correctly. The problem is many stores overseas are not classified as groceries because they tend to sell a variety of stuff or the groceries are in the basement. However, the basement grocery cashiers at M&S did classify as grocery stores while the tills in the department store part did not. I guess you could drag your upstairs cart downstairs and pay for them at the grocery store side. |

Does anyone have experience with Amazon Fresh / Whole Foods / Prime Now with Chase cards? Does it code as groceries? (Whole Foods via Amazon did on my Amex Gold.)
