[Consolidated] purchasing GC from Staples
Do you get 5x point for purchasing GC from Staples.com
Specifically, I can't find a GC (Jiffy lube) at any of the staples I visited. So I thought I'd buy it on-line. Will I still get the 5x points if I use the "ink" card? Thanks |
Yes, you should get 5x the points. I have received 5x points on other gift cards before.
|
In my experience the gift cards I've bought from staples.com earn 5x. It has taken a while to get them in the mail though. My local staples has a drawer underneath the gift card rack where they keep the extras. Occasionally there will be cards in the drawer that are not on display rack so you could try that trick too
|
Excellent - thank you both

you should also go through a shopping portal to get some extra points, UR portal will add to the 5X points you get by paying with INK

Buying Staples gift cards through UR mall
Unfortunately I don't have a Chase business card so I don't get the 5 points/per at Staples. But looking at the UR mall, they are giving 4 points for shopping at Staple online. I would get that if I buy gift cards from Staples, through UR, right?
I just made a Nordstrom purchase on the UR mall. I'm thinking I could have first bought a Nordstrom gift card from Staple (through UR), then shopped Nordstrom (through UR) and paid with the gift card. Then I would have gotten 9 points/per dollar, plus the points for charging the original gift card. Would that have worked? |
Gift Cards via Staples - no UR bonus points?
I purchased gift cards from Staples.com few months ago, and was able to get bonus points via UR Mall with Chase Ink card. However, June / July gift card purchases, bonus points doesnt show up and Chase said gift card purchases doesn't qualify for any UR mall bonus points... What's going on? Anyone experience same thing? Sent Chase DM, and phone calls, all of them said same thing

All the portals stopped paying out cashback / points for VGC purchases on staples.com in May. It was very well publicized on FT and the blogosphere.

Sad but true. My last Staples VGC purchase that accrued UR portal points was a 5/5 transaction that posted 5/11. I have a few since then and as of 6/2 none of them have accrued points.
I'll probably continue to buy via UR since it's still more convenient than going to Staples, but I hate to miss out on the 3x additional |
Does Chase care?
I'm willing to "buy" UR for $0.0048 each doing VGC through Staples with my Ink Plus. I have plenty of ways to liquidate. My primary concern is Chase getting ticked. I love their cards and plan to get more of them. Are they going to care if I rack up $3,000/month in staples gift cards? Will they close my account or deny me future credit?

Just bought $1900 in gift cards from staples online, they were e-giftcards. Staples charged me tax on the order... that can't be correct can it?
