hope this wasnt the great deal you have been alluding to on ftg
after checking it out it seems they took away a great benefit of the Old UA CC, no where does it say you earn UA EQMs based on your tkt prices which the Visa Signature CC gives. Chase coming thru with alot of hot air once again, a non-starter |

This is a letdown. No offense ingy, but I wish you hadn't built suspense around these products. With the exception of southwest, these deals are pretty much a bust.
If they come through we are happy, if not, we are sad. I still want the heads up. He stuck his neck out, let's not chop it off. |
Chasefail.
I'm most interested in what they're doing with the Pres Plus card EDIT: Now I'm not so bummed that I jumped the gun on the UA 50K miles card. |

Look at the wording on the ads on this page: the NEW explorer card. |
This offer is weak dot com!
I can't use a credit inquiry for this offer. If it was from... Barclays or something, I'd consider it. |

this in the terms?
If applicable, Chase cardmembers who currently have or have had a Chase credit card in any Rewards Program associated with this offer or have received a similar bonus offer, may not be eligible for a second Chase credit card in the same Rewards Program, or for any bonus offer. Chase cardmembers currently receiving promotional pricing, or Chase cardmembers with a history of only using their current or prior Chase card for promotional pricing offers, are not eligible for a second Chase credit card with promotional pricing. |
Certainly pales in comparison to the other ones currently out there.
Ingy, is there a Continental one that you are expecting to come up? |
Bob...i'd like pass this showcase!

united explorer
I will pass at this junk. better to spend my credit pulls elsewhere. come on chase, you can do a whole lot better than this
|
This card only offers 1 mile per $, no matter what you buy. What I really like about my current (old) United card is the 2 miles/$ for restaurants, supermarkets, Star Alliance, etc., and 3 miles/$ for United purchases, as well as 1 EQM per $ for first $5,000 in spend on United. All for the same annual fee as this "new" card.
It appears that they are not targetting this offer to frequent fliers (who already have priority boarding, free bags, etc.). :td: |

More info is good news to me. |
Yeah not so great. My YEARLY spend isn't enough to rack up $25k, which is hardly worth it since that's 25k miles plus 10k bonus miles, so it means you're earning 35k miles on $25,000, or 1.4 miles a dollar. I guess that's okay, but the AMEX gold bonus seems better.
Well this basically means I'm definitely going to sign up for the Amtrak card instead, which I was targeted for. 32,000 miles after first spend and I can transfer those to Continental. Also no annual fee so I can keep it around. (Anyone know if it's true there's a 25,000 mile annual transfer limit Amtrak<->Continental? Also when the transfer might be expiring?.I know AMEX<->CO is expiring in September). EDIT: I will say the only good news from this is it reaffirms my thoughts that United/CO isn't moving towards an inflationary model. United/CO miles should stay very valuable for redemptions going forward, and their new redemption rules seem to combine lots of the great aspects from both programs (and a few of the bad ones). |
