SJO / San Jose, Costa Rica Departure now Offers FAST TRACK (2018)
SJO has a Fast Track lane for First and Biz Departing Passengers for Passport control and Security. Unfortunately you still need a paper boarding pass that gets a stamp from the ticket counter. A phone displaying a first/biz class ticket will not work. On a plus side you no longer have to wait in another line to pay departure tax as it is collected by AA now and included in your ticket price

interesting... what if you had a paper ticket printed from hotel, etc..? Would you still need to go to ticket counter for stamp?

The Fast-Track line has been around for awhile. You're right: Without a stamp from the check-in counter on a paper boarding pass, you can't use it.
Airlines finally began incorporating the departure tax into their ticket prices about two years ago. It was a slow transition. I remember the days when they physically pasted stamps into your passport. Costa Rica has also done away with the form you had to fill out upon exiting the country. |

They have not for WestJet nor Cubana. The latter one can see, the former, lazy. Fortunately for the token flights per day/week the lines are not hue like they were when Spirit was part of the club.

OP is correct. I posted this on the 'Best Lounge at SJO?' thread some months ago:
:-: SJO Fast Track (Passport Control and Security VIP Lines): Access: - Any latin american bank issued MasterCard Black credit or debit card. - Diplomatic Passports. - Any airline business class boarding pass WITH Fast Track stamp. If you check-in online or at airport's electronic kiosk, you must go to your airline counter and ask to an agent to stamp your boarding pass. The boarding pass MUST have the stamp in order to use the Fast Track. Despite digital boarding passes from smartphones are accepted to go through security, they are not valid for the Fast Track, you must get a printed boarding pass first, and then go to the counter for the stamp. Using the fast track lane is based on the class (first or biz) you're flying that day, not airline status.
