they argue that T2 security was never blocked, and HKIA could leave it open so travelers can enter the security area.

Currently at the airport (1.30 pm) and both arrivals and departures flowing freely. There’s only a small contingent of protesters sitting on the floor near arrival area B. I don’t know what the T2 situation is.

Update from the live Reddit feed:
"From a friend working at the airport: airport security (as in TSA, not police) have barricaded the terminal entrances and restricting access to ticketed passengers and staff"

the designated area is size or starbucks premise at arrivals area. yeah thats gonna work anyways i am no legal expert but violation of court order allows arrest?

RTHK also reporting public opinion swey against the protestors due to mob behavior... the public opinion is ultimate judge on this movement.

Live stream from HKIA shows AVESCO checking for boarding passes (or e-mail confirmation) and passports prior to entry into terminal from the taxi drop off area. Lines aren't too long but best to arrive earlier. Not sure if they are doing the same for airport express.

Some person said she's standby and the security personnel let them in. Reporter mentions the fact that it's currently unclear what is the standard for entry - stand by passengers and those who will buy their ticket at the airport

HKIA interim injunction in its entirety:

https://www.hongkongairport.com/tc/i...565759853171-1

https://www.hongkongairport.com/iwov...tice/Order.pdf

Designated "Protest Area" appears to be the far left and far right sides of the Arrivals Hall.

so has it now become de-jure - legal to protest at the airport?

Appears so - as a result of this injunction, it appears there are now legal, approved protest zones within HKIA. Unprecedented event once again.

The yellow areasa A look minuscule. No more than a hundred people can stand there. Maybe they will mark it on the ground.

Fully respect and support HK people's freedom of speech or assembly, albeit not at a very comfortable place, but freedom is subject to a certain limitation such as the rule of law anyway.
In return, appreciate that the same HK people also respect and support passengers' freedom of movement, regardless of their nationality, origin, political view or religion etc.

Unfortunately no. There is a bit of fineprint in that injunction order to make sure it doesn't contradict Basic Law.

...only where the conduct of such
demonstration or protest or public order event is lawful and peaceful
provided that nothing in this Order shall be construed as authorising
any demonstration, protest or public order event in contravention to the
Public Order Ordinance (Cap. 245);
So, protesters will have to go through the usual procedures of applying for a letter of no objection, though IMO this is highly unlikely that the HK police will grant this.

On the contrary dear chap, had you perhaps for a moment even considered the possibility that it is you who do not understand before blasting out a curt response? Pushing out the security perimeter is a proven approach to crowd control globally. In this specific case, the alternative choke points will be a better outcome than what the situation was earlier this week, when the choke point was inside the terminal building itself.

Anyway, glad to hear that things are now vaguely back to normal at HKG.

Rather than engaging in political discussion, could anyone in HK or even at airport let us know what the situation looks like and if pax have been able to check-in?
