Just a data point on leaving CX pier to head home in HK.
There was massive late evening delay with CX/KA on Jan 27, my 2000 departure HKG KUL was delayed and when the new flight was announced at 0045 Jan 28 at 845pm I decide to pack it in and fly out the next morning.
Counter staff made all my fight changes in 5 minutes and I was then immediately escorted via a waiting cart to just before the immigration gates.
Base on my datapoint they are taking their time filing these visit lounge and then leave airside for HK request.

There is a way for CX to crack down on this, and allow for emergencies.
Make any passenger wishing to exit airport cancel their onward check-in, force them to pick up any bags they make have checked thorugh and then force them to rebook.
Actually I wonder why HKIA hasn't done this.
P.S. in light of LH case, reprice their ticket too as if curtailed journey!

or all of that is just some made-up joke/“rule”

If a passenger is entering the departures hall to have eggs benedict and a shower, there is no dedicated member of staff to assist getting them out again. So the passenger wanting a leisurly breakfast has to wait. That's fair enough. The lounges aren't arrivals lounges, passengers know that. Yes they can still do it, but there's a small price to pay (you have to wait to be escorted out).

I've been in that same lounge when i decided just to stay in the airport vs get a hotel (arrived 9pm with a 6am connection) and had the same snotty agents ask me why i don't just get a hotel for the night (which would obviously require the same escort)- so i don't think it's a bfd.
I don't see their intention of actually facilitating your return to arrivals.
And as LHR/MEL/Europe FF mentioned - it is someone's proper job to actually do that.
It is trying to depart exit area without IRROPs that is to be discouraged.

Are the "snotty" agents referring to you having taken a wrong turn by coming up to departures?
I don't see their intention of actually facilitating your return to arrivals.
If you have genuine IRROPs then that's fine - they get to tag you against that IRROPs.

if they don’t actually mean it, that would be a genuine case of having an attitude and that’s a disgrace
Not sure why they care, however

Wrong
This is what was said:
This is a false assumption by uncommonsensical - the snotty agents have no intention of providing or acting as that escort.
Simply put - the first statement should be read as "why I don't head straight to arrivals after deplaning and just get a hotel for the night"
Chinese have a way of abstracting words Checked-in baggage screening in Taipei - "看行李"

Attitude yes invtation no.
It's a bit like me telling you (I did frequently) "love it or leave". I have no intention of setting up your life outside HK (you have overseas nationality already).

whilst we are mates for this sort of banter, i dont see the point of giving such comments in the first class lounge if they don’t mean it.
as a result, these staff do have a problem w the attitude

it will come as a shock to you that in this instance, probably for the first time in your life, your Nostradamus abilities fell short. nonetheless, your confidence in your abilities has given ME confidence in your abilities. ergo... wondering who will win the Kentucky Derby this year?
your powers notwithstanding, curious as to your putting "snotty" in quotes- have you not been to this lounge?!? I've been there 35-40x minimum and i've yet to experience anything but snotty from the greeters- and my observation isn't exactly an outlier. in contrast, everyone else in the lounge, without exception, has always been pleasant. further, I've yet to have anything but a wonderful cabin crew on a CX flight (though i've heard this excellence is changing). but, as for the glorified greeters, "snotty" is a filtered word to suit the tender sensibilities of the likes of you- there are more apt adjectives that apply...

your ability to go into such detail as to the intricacies of a conversation that occurred between people you don't know and that did not happen in your presence is, frankly, astounding.

i much prefer the pier. I really only go to the wing for the cabanas. the showers elsewhere are small and invariably get steamed up so you're sweating after a shower- yuck. everything else is better at the pier- and it's a healthy/needed walk between the two.
thing is, i never planned to go into the city that day. i hadn't slept much the night before and was just going to take a nap at the pier and chill. i ended up not as tired as i thought i'd be and saw it was a beautiful day in HKG and decided it would be stupid to spend it in an airport. so, yeah, not the nefarious premeditated crime lurking in the fertile imaginations of FT SJWs.

I have copied the most recent factual posts to a new thread since this one has old information and has become circuitous.
