OK, I know CX does not serve F on this route, but still interesting to see that F TKT holders have less baggage allowance than W (Y+) and Y TKT holders. http://www.cathaypacific.com/cpa/en_...ANGUAGE=en#PSN

Just did a dummy booking on ecomony class for the cheapest fare available:
04/03 HKG > AKL
12/03 AKL > HKG

CX (NZ-operated CX7401/7402): HK$8050 (class L)
CX197/198: HK$8890 (class M)

I thought CX did First Class in the (southern) summer when they increase flights to two and one has first class.
One of the things about this code share I'm not sure about is whether in the (southern) winter there will only be one flight a day from AKL-HKG, as opposed to two (one each by CX and NZ) at the moment. If so, those flights will be pretty crowdwd.

It is thrice daily during the southern summer (2 CX, A340-300(747 removed ever since china southern entry) and daily 777-200 on NZ)

It is twice daily during the other nine months (1 CX-A340-300,1 NZ 777-200)

As NZ and CX intend to keep these cabins long term, CX-A340 to be in the same condition till 2017.So the standards on this route will remain row

No, CX did not put the 744 on NZ197/8 this year like they have over the last few years; and the 343s have no F.

But in the meantime, one can fly Y+ on NZ (before connecting to say a LHR flight in Y+) in the time before CX refurbishes their cabin..

Does anyone know how I can make an advanced seat reservation on the CX 7402 AKL-HKG service operated by Air NZ? I am in Business Class. Can I call Air New Zealand office to make the seat reservation; will they be able to access my booking made via CX?

It's possible to ask CX to request, but it's probably easier to call NZ directly. NZ can definitely see the booking if you provide the NZ operating flight number and your name. Whether or not the NZ agent is willing to do it is another matter.

Yes they can, and do. Have done it before, even for a redemption booking.
