Is it worth waiting 3.5 hours for F on BKK-HKG?

I am currently ticketed to fly in F from BKK-HKG-ORD, with a 23 hour layover in Hong Kong. CX 700 is the first flight out of BKK in the morning, and would give us the most time to explore HK, but is a 2 cabin 773. The three cabin 77W flies out about 3.5 hours later.

Is it worth waiting just so we can sit in F on a 3 hour flight? If we wait, we would get into HK at 15:50 instead of 12:05.

IMO, the F experience is worth the wait unless you really, really have to be in HKG by noon.
You also get to sleep in instead of waking up at an ungodly hour.

But you could also wait 3 hours and then find out they have substituted the plane for one without F.

Very high risk factor on this route depending on loading as well

definitely not worth it you'll be fuming if your plane gets swapped.

If you have an award booking and want to maximise your award and have the free time then yes, its worth it. But if time is a factor, then no.

You get slightly better meals but overall its not worth the wait. Its only a 2.5 hour flight.

The chance of an equipment swap is too high. In summary, you could already be at your destination while waiting for a F seat which may or may not be there.

Yeah, I think that I will take the J seat and not risk an equipment switch. I am not in a huge hurry, but if I go on the earlier flight I will get to do lunch and dinner and be able to try two restaurants off of my list.

Couldn't the OP already use the F lounge thanks to the ORD-HKG segment?

Yes. But what I mean is extensive use.

Trip Reports are welcomed as always

I am not aware of any CX F lounge in BKK; it is a joint lounge (actually two joint lounges).

Then, if you do go with the 2-cabin flight, AND the later one goes out with the 3-cabin....(buyers remorse after the fact) you be fuming from that

My play, if I had no scheduling issues, etc...I would roll the dice....hope for the best but be prepared for a swap so you aren't fuming as much if it does happen...good luck...

I personally thinkn if u dont need that much time in hkg just book the layer flight. Purely for comfort level so don't need to wake up that early and If u get f class then it is a bonus
