hmm... interesting... As i'm still waiting for my CUP card to arrive, I wonder what happens if they accept and process my Platinum VISA application now. Technically, i am not a holder of Bcomm card at this very moment.

but good pickup - i won't bother apply for now.. i will wait 6 months for more juicy things to pop up. thx for that.

After reading all the info I plan to apply for 5 cards, please comment on my plans:

1) WLB Platinum (Co-brand for professional bodies): to get the $2800/5000AM offer; then churn; $0 annual fee for Co-brand
Q1: Or should I apply for the WLB Union DoublePay and get the $60000/15000AM before 31/10/2012?

2) Fubon Titanium: to get the $2800/5000AM offer, AND the 20x promotion in Taiwan (for a trip in May), then reserve for overseas / local weekend & birthday month spending; ?$0 annual fee
Q1: If I spend TWD$5000 within the first months, can I get both the 5000AM welcoming offer AND the bonus 20x (6667AM)?
Q2: I heard there's a max. cap for bonus pts = 3x credit limit, so say I got the limit of $40000 then I can get max. 120000pt/month = 10000AM/month?
Q3: Are the other credit cards (that I plan to apply) have similar max. cap for points/AM to be earned every month?

3) CX Elite: to get the $8000/8000AM offer then churn (coz no way to waive annual fee and difficult to keep annual spending >$150000)

4) Citibank PremierMiles: to get the $15000/15000AM offer; then reserve for local spending (during weekdays, if not accepting DBS Amex); ?easy to waive annual fee?

5) DBS Black: to get the $120000/32000AM offer; then reserve for local spending if Amex accepted; 1st year annual fee waived; ?easy to waive annual fee in subsequent years?

As I am going to pay off $116000 in May-June 2012, another $116000 in June 2013, and $100000+ after my big day in December 2013; I plan to first apply WLB Union / Fubon / Citi / CX Elite to get all the welcoming offers (inc. the $60000/15000AM offer for WLB before 31/10/2012) then pay the rest of my 1st deposit with Fubon / Citi; then apply DBS for my 2nd deposit next year to get the $120000/32000 offer (if still exist...). Is this the most beneficial plan?

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; CPU iPhone OS 5_0_1 like Mac OS X) AppleWebKit/534.46 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/5.1 Mobile/9A405 Safari/7534.48.3)

1) get the WLB Unionpay and you get both the 5000am welcome offer *and* the 15000am for $60000 offer

2) q1 - hk$5000 worth of twd (or twd19k) - yes
Q3 - BEA I think

4) easy

5) easy

Cap at 200RC for the promotion i.e. max spend is $5,000
My mistake. In the Chinese version it does say 額外
https://www.hsbc.com.hk/1/2/special/.../cards/prom208. So the max is 200 x 250 / 9 = $5,555.55

So shall I proceed with the aforementioned plan?
Recap:
1) Fubon for Taiwan trip in May
2) WLB / Fubon / Citibank PremierMiles for 1st banquet payment in May 2012
3) CX Elite for Japan trip in November 2012
4) DBS for 2nd banquet payment in June 2013
5) Citibank Rewards for 3rd payment in December 2013, after churning Citibank PremierMiles

Can anyone tell me about the terms for churning the cards mentioned above? e.g. some cards need to pay admin. fee if cancel <1 year?

I plan to churn PremierMiles ASAP once the AM are secured (say before September 2012, then apply for Citibank Rewards for its welcoming offers (say September 2013). Is this feasible?

Out of topic: Can I get Asiamiles from affiliated hotels if booking from travel agents e.g. Zuji? How can I know about the "eligible rates" to get AM for booking hotels?

Thanks!

Almost all of them have 12 month min retention period http://www.getjetso.com/forum/thread-368668-1-1.html
Bankcomm has 13
BEA has 24

Nope, see above. So the best you can do is to apply for Citi PM in Sep 12, cancel Sep 13, apply for Citi Rewards in Sep 14.

Essentially - if you did not book it from a hotel website direct, or pay an equivalent rate to the agent, do not expect miles or hotel points.

HSBC Everyone Live. Shop. Play promotion 9 Apr-6 May

https://www.hsbc.com.hk/1/2/special/cards/prom216

Spend $3,000 per week (Mon-Sun) and get rebated 10% up to $150 on your Friday spending.

Optimal strategy - charge HSBC cards for $1,500 for non-Friday spending and $1,500 on Friday.

Three comments:

1. Fubon welcome offer can be met by Taiwan spending alone if over HK$2,800 (TWD19K).

2. You won't be able to earn welcome offer on Citi Rewards in Dec 2013 if you apply for Premiermiles now (and presumably cut it next April). Citi Premiermiles is 12 months on, 12 months off (churn).

3. You might want to try applying for two Citi cards (Rewards and Premiermiles) at once http://www.hongkongcard.com/forum/fo...hp?id=6875&p=2 #15, though I'm not sure whether that is sure to work.

Good luck!

P.S. CX Elite for Japan - smart...HK$3/mile to $60,000 for first three months plus get the $8,000 for the welcome offer at the same time. And I've just been back from Japan (Okinawa, that is) - Amex is taken whereever credit cards are taken, the Japanese aren't picky about which card association you use (unlike HK where Unionpay gets you into trouble with restaurants and Amex is hated at low-margin businesses).

OH NO... my darkest day have arrived upon me....
My dad have just given me a CITIBANK gas card, which means he broke my churning sequence for the PM card.
I suppose there's NOTHING i can do about it, except maybe try calling citibank and say I never authorized applying for this card?!

I suppose this brings a lot more consequences than $1/mile for 15K miles?

Or wait...
All welcome offers are only applicable for New Citibank Credit Card Customers. New Citibank Credit Card Customers (New Customers’) are defined as applicants who do not currently hold and/or in the past 12 months have not been successfully approved for or cancelled any Principal Citibank Credit Card, Citibank Cobrand Card, Citibank Private Label Card issued by Citibank (Hong Kong) Limited (“Citibank”) and / or Diners Club Card issued by Diners Club International (HK) Limited ("Diners").
They really only meant Principal, right?

Yes. Mum was a subsidiary cardholder of Dad's Premiermiles when she got her own card; didn't stop her from getting welcome offer.

Apply for Citi Premiermiles, have your missus apply for Citi Rewards then issue subsid cards to each other?

Or try the two-simultaneous application trick discussed in hongkongcard.com?
