Lounge Access Question

Hi everyone, first time flying CX, and have a general question about lounges.

I am flying F from JFK-HKG, followed by J from HKG-SIN in a 2-class regional 777. Flight numbers are CX841 and CX 711.

Question, which lounge should I be using? I know CX operates 4 different lounges, so naturally I am confused. Also, will I be entitled to use the F section of the lounge even though my onward jouney is in J? Is there any significant difference between the F and J sections?

Thanks!

You will be able to use the BA F lounge in JFK (CX doesn't have its own lounge), although some say the adjacent J lounge is nicer.

In Hong Kong you can officially use only the J sections of the lounges (The Wing or The Pier); some may say you should try to talk your way into the F lounge on the basis of your inbound, but I wouldn't rate your chances highly. The Wing is much more "open" feeling and the Pier is cosier. There's no difference in food or drink offerings between the two J lounges (the F lounges have a much nicer full buffet restaurant). I would generally use whichever is nearest my departing gate.

I read somewhere in this forum that passengers connecting from a CX long-haul F to a CX regional/short-haul J can also have accesses to the F lounges.

There are also cabanas in the Wing F section and daybreak rooms in the Pier F section.

I'll be taking CX766 SGN-HKG in J then CX872 HKG-SFO in F with only 1h15 between connecting flights. Will I have enough time to go to the Cathay F lounge in HK?
Thank you!

Marginal, perhaps enough for a very quick tour to one of them.

you will be well pushed to use the lounge and anyone trying to blag their way into the lounge on the basis they arrived in F have about as much chance of getting in as I do of becoming the pope

thqu60 is departing in F anyway. The question was whether there will be enough time to use one of the F lounges.

I think bizclassboy was referring to my situation. The only reason I'm not flying F onward to SIN is because there is no F offered!

In any case, I will give it a shot and post the results here.

If you actually decide to give this a go with only 1h15m, then I'd suggest getting to the transit security as quickly as possible, i.e. disembark promptly, walk quickly.

I managed it quite successfully about 18 months ago, coming off KA in F and departing on CX J (two class). Nothing ventured, nothing gained :p

When is your ordination ? :D
